I mean Justin Fields isnt exactly a bad consolation prize?

Justin Fields is 1b.  Trevor opts to stay.....then Fields gets the TL discussion.  Should he pull an Eli? Stay at Ohio St? or go to the Jets.

While out grabbing a snack, I heard Kyle Bailey say that some people were starting to take the idea of Trevor Lawrence "shunning" the Jets seriously.

Took a look around the web to see what I could see, and it seems that the New York media at least sees it as a real possibility following some recent comments from Lawrence that he's open to the possibility of staying in school for another year.

Of course, people also speculate about him coming out but simply refusing to play for the Jets. I'll grant that's possible, but it seems less likely (at least at the moment).

Either way though, Lawrence making a move to avoid the Jets would have near seismic level implications for this year's draft. And there's plenty to speculate on about how it might affect us.

I wouldn’t put any stock in what Bailey says but it wouldn’t surprise me. It’s happened before. I wouldn’t want to play there unless there are some serious changes.

So do we even know the Jets are done with Darnold?  He is only 23 and was the #3 pick in 2018. Surely the Jets can’t blame their entire dumpster fire on this kid.

Darnold would be a decent gamble if the Jets part with him.  I don't think he is that bad.  Be worth a shot to kick his tires for reasonable price.

I still don't know how they had some success with Rex Ryan and Butt Fumble

Revis was that good.

When you can blitz and lock away the opposing teams best target a lot of teams in the 08-12 era didn't have a ton of weapons to adjust.

Rex Ryan while a crappy HC.....could call some defense.

You take the money imo. He can do more with less with his mobility. May actually be easier to build around him starting from nothing than Lawrence imo.

Bailey's comment led me to do a little looking around. General consensus seems to be that it is at least plausible.

Will it happen? Don't know, but people are indeed taking it seriously.

Honestly, only a matter of time before the NFL gets a little bit of NBA feel with players basically dictating what teams they want to go to. Obviously harder with the NFL, but I'd be BIG TIME in favor of player empowerment when Trevor Lawrence comes out and says he wants to play for the Panthers.
