Outside of a QB who do you have and why?

Sure it would to a degree. Do I think our record would ultimately be much different? Honestly, nah.

With how close many of these games have been and how bad our LB group has been and how out of sort the D has been I 100% believe that a prime Luke being inserted onto this team would give us 2-3 more wins right now. Not the Luke from the past couple years where he was clearly slowing down a little bit, but a healthy 2013-2015 Luke, absolutely. I don't think the same would be true for a Gilmore/Ramsey.

Marty hurney's attachment to drafting "impact" running backs and "impact" linebackers over and over and over again is why his first tenure here imploded

this grade school notion that the draft is just about "making sure you come away with a good player" because youre terrified of the vanilla and common reality that sometimes draft picks don't work out is the roadmap for John fox era panthers football

The draft is about assessing value relative  to the ease of meeting those needs elsewhere and implementing a super bowl winning formula with that reality in mind

That formula doesn't substantially rely on the easy to evaluate positions people here are so obsessed with, for that reason: they've confused safe with talented

OL or DB. Really depends on where we draft.

I REALLY wish we would have kept Bradberry over Shaq last offseason. Dude is playing fantastic.

I agree, but in fairness, Bradberry would have been a lot more expensive.  Shaq is being paid middle of the pack for his position, Bradberry would have been top five in his position.  And I am not sure he wanted to stay here.

Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, Lance.....4 QB's possibly making up 4 of the top 15

Here are my other players for the Panthers to look at if not QB. I did not include receivers.

Penei Sewell - OT

Micah Parsons - LB

Patrick Surtain Jr. - CB

Greg Rousseau - DE

Shaun Wade - CB

Caleb Farley - CB

Javon Holland - S

Dylan Moses - LB

Wyatt Davis - G

Creed Humphrey - C

Alex Leatherwood - T

Marvin Wilson - DT

Christian Barmore - DT

I've seen him higher on lists, but have not seen any of these guys play. I don't follow college football. Anyone else that should be in the 35-45 pick range?

I watched Newman a lot and loved him at Wake.  Wake ran a somewhat unusual offense with him, almost a Panthers 2015 style of offense, with read option and some deep balls or quick outs  It worked when we had some good big body receivers like Sage Surrat, but Sage got injured and the offense struggled.  I would take a chance on Newman if he is still available in the fourth.  Could turn into a Dak Prescott, but probably nothing earlier than that.

The first 3 picks very well could be all the QBs worth a damn in the entire draft. I seriously doubt Panthers will get one unless they trade up. There’s no reason to trade the future for one anyways when we’re on the 8th LT in 3 years.

Ideally, Sewell would be great then take a stud CB/S bottom of first (trade up) or top of the second. This would be ideal IMO.

But I highly doubt Sewell falls past #5. He is the only olineman worth a top 10 pick IMO

LB is basically non existent.

WR and DEs galore in this draft.

DB is better for the bottom first/second round.

Basically there is a huge gap where the Panthers will likely pick (7-10). They’d be reaching for an olineman, LB or DB.

As much as it pains me to say I think we will be in perfect position to take a top DE talent and the second round is much more interesting for a DB. We’ll probably be fuged on oline again.

Christian Darrisaw is an interesting guy outside Sewell at OT.

I'd like to snag Ja’Marr Chase, but I'll be more realistic since he'll go really high imo.

1) New York Jets: Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson

2) Jacksonville Jaguars: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

3) Washington Football Team: Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State

4) Dallas Cowboys: Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama

5) Los Angeles Chargers: Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon

6) Miami Dolphins (via Houston Texans): Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU

7) Cincinnati Bengals: Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State

8) New York Giants: Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech

So here we are:

Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida

Gregory Rousseau, EDGE, Miami

These two are often mocked around this pick. I would choose Pitts because I want more TDs in the redzone and less field goals. I can't imagine Pitts not being a TD machine for us with Teddy's accuracy and his height and athleticism. Also we have to have a more potent offense and we need more explosive plays down field.
