Talk to me about Trask

Florida has Dan Mullen who coached Dak at Mississippi St. I hear he is also being looked at to coach in the NFL as soon as next year. Spurrier and Meyer were more of the college qb coaches that couldn’t make it in the NFL.

I finally have a decent coach again. Please don’t take Mullen away from me.

Watch a Gators game over the weekend. I've seen folks mention Kyle Trask here and there. I've read he is expected to be a round 1 pick but not top 10.

I have never been a fan of UF QBs. They don't seem to pan out. Is he not another Rex Grossman?

Just remember that Dan Mullen is the head coach there now. He is the guy that was the coach at Mississippi St while Dak Prescott was there.

Pardon me if I don't cry a river for you. As a Mississippi State fan I said the exact same thing about him.And yes I understand why he jumped.

Mullen was also the college qbs coach for Alex Smith and The Golden Calf of Bristol

4125 yrds 43 touchdowns 5int with a noodle arm. Lol. Really?!

Come on now. Find another excuse with legs cause that one isn't based in reality.

He's slaying everybody else in touchdowns and yards to the point that they almost can't deny him the Heisman.

He is a polished, prototypically sized6'5", 240+lb, NFL lock. He's going to be a good/great NFL QB. He's got a.32 sec. release, elite. He's technically sound. Throws with touch or velocity. Enough strength and will to push the pile into the end zone for a score

It's always a crap shoot when picking a new QB, but at least you can tell from the SEC that the guy is battle tested. When rating them on a scale of 1-100, SEC competition has to be worth a couple of points at least. In most ways it's like saying a basketball player came through the ACC, there's something of a benchmark to test against.

(And I am wayyyy oversimplifying it.)

Yeah, but that doesn't seem to help them be successful. Honestly, I think a lot of football factory schools get away with having less at QB because they have so much elsewhere.

He's Byron Leftwich with a more conventional throwing motion. Pretty much all the same strengths and weaknesses.

Byron got hit by cars when he was younger. That man was never right. Jacksonville also did him no favors with their line or receiving targets. Matt Jones in the first round was a horrific pick.

Trask is gonna get blasted too. That's what happens when you're a statue with a slow delivery. I don't care what some YouTuber says about his release, that overall throwing motion isn't fast. He really needs to go to the right system and situation to be successful.

I meant Byron got hit by literal cars when he was younger. I wasn’t talking about his movement in the pocket.

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
