For SEC QBs who've done well in the NFL, there's Newton, all three Mannings, Stabler, Namath, Tarkenton, Prescott, Stafford -- it's a big conference with a lot of competition, so you've got some greats in there.

Now Florida... yeah, can't say much there. Cam came out of the program at Florida and leaving that was probably the best thing that ever happened to him.

It isn't a conference that puts consistent, high-level QB talent in the NFL. Perhaps that is changing but time will tell.

We've got CMC don't need a runningback QB. We've got WRs now. You need a Drew Brees type of QB to get the playmakers the ball. That's not old it's not modern. That's football.

When they asked Kyle to get into that end zone for a touchdown he pushed the hogmollies up in there.

It's always a crap shoot when picking a new QB, but at least you can tell from the SEC that the guy is battle tested. When rating them on a scale of 1-100, SEC competition has to be worth a couple of points at least. In most ways it's like saying a basketball player came through the ACC, there's something of a benchmark to test against.

(And I am wayyyy oversimplifying it.)

No noodle arm QBs please! I've seen enough out of Teddy to last a lifetime!

Teddy has plenty of arm to throw it deep, he just is scared to throw deep. He has hit deep shots before but for some reason he avoids throwing it more than ten yards. Trask regularly throws deep and has made more big time throws than any college QB ever in the single season. Or, he is tied with Burrow right now but he has a bowl game left where he will break the record.

Honestly, IDK who came up with the 20-yards-is-deep thing, but I don't cotton to it! I want to see my guy throw 40 yard dimes and hit the receiver in stride! Maybe I'm spoiled from the old days! Maybe I'm spoiled by Mahomes and Allen, but 20-30 yards is not deep!

Trask and especially Teddy have have arms like the fake Mustangs that were out 10-15 years ago! They looked like a Mustang, but they didn't have the sound nor power! They have fake deep arms! But, I will give you that Trask has improved!

He's still got a fake arm though!

If there was a consensus knock on Trask in 2019, it was his lack of arm strength. There was merit to that claim. Trask floated a lot of balls, and he wasn’t great at pushing the ball downfield. However, that’s changed a fair bit in 2020.

Trask has shown in every game thus far this season that he has the ability to make throws 20+ yards downfield with accuracy. A lot of this has to do with his improved footwork, but he’s also doing a fantastic job of using his hips to throw, rather than just his arm. This has added a lot of velocity through his motion, allowing him to make throws like his deep touchdown in the middle of the field to tight end Kyle Pitts against Ole Miss (third quarter, snap at 14:34)

from the article. But to the point of 40 yard throws I would wager not many QBs regularly chuck 40 yard throws.

Oh, yeah, that's why I referenced the article: to say there may be something to work with depending on one's perspective. But, even though I know that QBs aren't throwing 40 yard bombs all game, I want a guy who can! I don't believe Trask can do it!

The only QB who had more big time 20+ yard throws than Justin Fields last year was Burrow. I know you aren’t a fan of him but he does push the ball regularly.

Florida has Dan Mullen who coached Dak at Mississippi St. I hear he is also being looked at to coach in the NFL as soon as next year. Spurrier and Meyer were more of the college qb coaches that couldn’t make it in the NFL.
