i think his last possession today just said it all

down sixteen, bucs still playing close to the line of scrimmage

still not taking any shots

takes two check down routes almost immediately

Don't forget the brave attempt at the end of first half. After the DJ Moore catch was reversed.  Back at Carolina 25.. Teddy pass short right to Davis for a 5 yard gain with 16 seconds on the clock.

Then he makes another short pass with Davis as the target.. incomplete.

Shame it would only be just shy of the 30-40 yards needed for a field goal attempt...

Like here's the thing, before Cam was hurt his tendency to throw off his back foot and often sail balls were frequently attributed to failures in protection and likely rightfully so. Cam also seldom looked for his outlet while our scheme also inexplicably failed to provide him one a lot of the time because Shula was a donkey. Say what you want about Cam but he tried to push it down field, even when his body was failing.

Well now everyone that was screaming for Cam to just take the dump off has gotten their fuging wish in spades. We have a legitimate Check Down Charlie.

if THROW THE DANG BAWWWWL had an archetype

We need a QB who can do both. Cam's problem for a long time was he couldn't just take what the defense gave him. Teddy's problem is that he can't truly threaten the D downfield. Neither is ideal. Cam was obviously elite for a little while because of his arm and his running, but we need a true franchise passer who can make all the throws consistently. There are a ton of younger QBs right now that can do this, and 4+ in this upcoming draft who could have that potential. Seems like drafting a QB early and having him develop behind Teddy is an absolute no brainer. Hope the team makes the right move there and doesn't try to convince themselves Teddy is the guy.

That's who Teddy Bridgewater is.

Not his fault... that is his QB core and coaches who coach him and GM's who sign him *KNOW* that.

And, if they don't know that, they are fugging idiots.

Pretty much . Last thing you want is for your team to get stuck in a QB limbo for a decade or longer (looking at you Chicago).

Teddy's probably good enough just to keep us directly in a 7-9 ,6-10 mediocrity hell zone for the rest of eternity (assuming we upgraded the D/oline)
