Smitty

Meat you're honestly one of the dumbest people I have ever seen on the internet. And I've been using the internet for a long time, now I haven't been to such forums discussing the mentally challenged, but I have no doubt that your name would have came up there.

Kentucky fans tend to be complete idiot hilljacks so this doesn't surprise me.

you know how every laughs at the Raiders and how the Pats ripped them off....that is what it would be like if we dealt Smith to a remotely functional franchise.

Need a new coach and QB....then we address the WR talent. Moore and Jarrett could work then.....maybe not. All we know is that w/ Jake at this stage of his career.....he won't get anything out of talent if it is sitting on the roster.

You Smitty fans take the cake. He's not the best player on this team, hasn't been for a couple of years. Right now this is Double Trouble's team. Smitty knows that and his gigantic ego can't stand it. "I deserve a better team because this one isn't centered around me". Trade his ass. You'd be amazed what it does for the locker room.

As G5 said, how's the TO removal working for the Cowboys? Can any of you Smitty guys answer that one?

The best way to win (other than with your D) is to have a balanced attack, Meat. You stop Double Trouble, you can pretty much beat the Panthers. Let's look at the Top 10 NFL Rushers, their teams, and their records...

1. Chris Johnson (TN - no pass threat at all) 2-6

2. Cedric Bendon (CIN - pass threat with a great qb) 6-2

3. Steven Jackson (STL - no pass threat at all) 1-7

4. Adrian Peterson (MN - pass threat with a great qb) 7-1

5. DeAngelo Williams (CAR - one great wr without a great qb) 3-5

6. Maurice Jones Drew (JAX - one decent rookie wr and an average qb) 4-4

7. Michael Turner (ATL - pass threat with a great qb) 5-3

8. Thomas Jones (NYJ - rookie qb with options in pass game) 4-4

9. Ryan Grant (GB - pass threat with great qb) 4-4

10. Brandon Jacobs (NY - pass threat, great qb, playing terribly) 5-4

Pretty much, if you can run it but can't pass it, you're doomed as a team that feeds its backs.

The COWBOYS, as you wanted to point out, couldn't make TO happy even though he put up stellar numbers for them while there. Now, Romo (better qb than Jake, mind you) has a solid run game to work with, and very capable receivers. Witten is better than our #2 WR and any of our TEs, Miles Austin and Patrick Crayton are both equal to Moose or Jarrett and some could argue better. That leaves ONE difference between us and them...Steve Smith. And how often do we throw it downfield to him or look his way this season? That's right, we rarely do. I'm aware that he is doubled, but by making this "Double Trouble's team"...you run the risk of going...oh I don't know...3-5.

With better play calling, Jake not sucking, and a better way to get the double off Smith...he gets the ball more and we win more. He has a right to complain (privately). If the camera had never of shown his tirade, we'd never even be having this conversation. He's been just fine this season, diva wise, until a reporter pins a pointed question on him.

Let it go. Without Smith...we're not even 3-5. And let's not even talk about the game in Green Bay last season.

Owens had at least 1000 yards and at least 10 TDs in every season w/ Dallas. Nobody on there roster has the talent to do that 3 consecutive years. Cowboys also had 3 consecutive winning seasons with Owens.....

looks like they got rid of a mouth and lost consistant production at the WR spot.....probably came out no better or worse overall.

I think they came out better because of their run game.

They actually run the ball more and have three good backs actually.

Plus no one wants to listen to TO, so not hearing him is always a plus.

well, I know there isn't a WR in the league if you look at the past 5 years who strung 3 consecutive years together with that kind of production. I think overall it was a wash.....they are no better or worse off. That also is only b/c of his age....if he was younger I say they would have made a dumb move.

Patriots got Randy Moss for a 4th round pick. I don't think anyone is suggesting trading Smitty for a late rounder. Also, watching Randy Moss in Oakland the entire rest of that offense was totally inept and he was basically triple teamed every play and yet still made some great plays when given the opportunity. His total production was down obviously but you could still see his playmaking ability and skills were there.

I agree we need a more balanced attack, but this is just weighing the options of keeping him vs. trading him for multiple picks. I think we'd do better in the long run to get good value while we still can and then use those picks and cap space to bring in young WRs alongside a new QB.

Getting rid of smith because Delhomme and the coaches suck dick...this makes complete sense. Ask your self this question, Would we even be having this talk if we even had a decent QB who could actually pass the ball decent? or if we had some halfway smart people coaching this team? Dont get rid of your star WR because of stupidity around him.

This.. all of it...

You all talk about Smitty as if his head is on straight. It's not, and THAT is the problem. You are saying "you don't trade away such a talented player", when in fact he isn't producing here. You trade him while other teams think of him the same way you are thinking of him, because there isn't a white knight quarterback coming to save the day, and Fox is in danger of losing the team the rest of the way.

I just re-watched the game specifically for this thread.

You couldn't be more right about Smith right now. The cussing at the coaches and throwing the ball towards the coaches direction is ridiculous. I don't care how good a player the guy is, no one...and I repeat NO ONE comes before the team.

Smith has every reason to be upset with the playcalling and the poor QB play, but as a professional you can't conduct yourself in that manner on the field. (If you rewatch the game, take a look at the shock on Jon Beason's face when Smith is berading Davidson). This kind of conduct in detrimental to the team as a whole.

I love Smith. He is hands down, far and above the most entertaining reciever i've ever watched play. I love his passion and his grit. He has bailed Jake out time and time again, and has done great things for this organization. But, he needs to mature. He is past due on chances to mature. There is no since in his outburst. <<<---On that note. Jake needs to clean his attitude up as well. I've seen him screaming at the coaching staff a lot more on the sidelines this year.

If you've got feedback for the coaching staff, do it behind closed doors. Not on gameday. The only thing that Smith and Jake's outbursts do is bring down team morale and expose a weakness to our opponents.
