Smitty

I'd trade Smitty for SF 49ers first and more in a heartbeat.

Would we suck? Yep. But it's not like we're really USING the WR position right now anyway.

Lot of free agent WRs next year....just manage what you can and stick w/ the running game for now and prepare for the future at QB, the most important position on the field. Otherwise...you're just getting old on top of bad on top of older everywhere due to no future picks.

Joe Horn had bad character??????? Since when? He was a loud mouthed smack talker who spoke of himself in the third person, but I don't think his character was bad. People keep thinking he was involved in the Willie Roaf baby-daddy scandal, but it wasn't him. It was Joe JOHNSON. Joe Horn offered to take a DNA test. He was and is a good family man. He still comes home to Fayetteville where I live. He's one of the good guys. I think he was probably too much of a prima donna for Payton.

Albert Connell was that locker room thief if my memory is correct.

Albert Connell, there you go....

Smith will probably be the best, or one of the best players to not make it to the HOF.

Basically because he plays here with the Panthers, and more specifically with Jake.

Meat is just being a meat-head.

I see it as his duty to show his unhappyness, who could be happy on that team right now other than Peppers and his bank?

Other players should be stepping up and wanting action to be done, hell if I was on the team I'd speak up and if they traded me that = so what?

I don't mind Smith being upset about his role.

What I mind is him cussing out the offensive coordinator on live TV. What I mind is him not even trying for a pass late in the game. What I mind is all of this coming from a guy who should be doing whatever he can to be a good teammate. But then, it's not like being a good teammate was ever a concern for Smitty, was it?

Smith has backed and defended Delhomme since forever. When Delhomme had a meltdown and killed his team in the playoffs, who went and talked to him? One guy did, everyone else was about 3 miles away.

When K. Moore botched a punt and killed a chance at a comeback, who went over and talked to him?

When M. Moore had to start and try and pull us through the rest of the season, who was talking him up and joking around with him, in front of cameras, so he relaxed into the role a bit more?

Guy has carried his team in the past, been the only threat more than one season and blocks his ass off on running plays. He's one of the main reasons this franchise got ANY of its scarce airtime in the past.

What a self-centered douche.

Well sure, if you're talking that kind of compensation I'd look at it. But getting anything more that a 2nd for Smitty would be unlikely me thinks. Age and history takes its toll. Smitty wil be a 31 year old 9 year Vet next year.

But the 9ers have Crabtree and Vernon Davis, they don't need Smitty. They may need a QB, which conveniently they'll get with our pick.

Right...which is why you get what you can while you can. Teams will pay that for Smitty.

Pats gave up a 3rd for Welker from Miami...you know how much that pained them to do that? Think what stupid teams would do.

Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya. The Panthers have bent over backwards giving you chance after chance after chance. Soon as you go a few games without being the focal point of the offense, you start throwing tantrums.

I usually root for great players and used to root for him but I now I think he is a punk all the way through.

Are you people seriously even breathing?

Ok, get rid of Smitty. With what picks do we obtain any record breaking WR's?

More rookies to take his place.................give me a ******* break. There would have to be other trades/picks obtained to make this happen for us to have any chance at improving.

Key word improving.

Fact of the matter is he will probably make the decision for us, so we may not have a choice.

Do we franchise tag Smitty (assuming his contract is up otherwise why are we even discussing this) or Peppers this offseason?

I don't think that would go over to well with Smitty, assuming he wants to leave. If he wants to stay, I say yes to him, and da hell with Pep.

Smitty is the kind of player that for pride alone would sit out a year if he didn't want to be here.....and I don't blame him one bit considering the way things are being run around here lately.

I pretty much guarantee you that Smitty will make the decisions in this deal......contract or not. You can only push dirt into the ground so far.

I guarantee this though; if Steve Smith leaves this upcoming offseason, at least 2/3 of Panther fans leave with him.

*FIXED*

This would be like the Lakers dumping Kobe. Meat's a dumbass. Wouldnt surprise me though to see a guy like Jake Delhomme last longer in Carolina than Steve Smith. Likeability outweighs talent here. The real Panther fans will always know Steve Smith has carried Jerry Richardson, John Fox, Jake Delhomme, and this entire franchise for most of this decade. Jerry Richardson would've had to sell the team by now if it werent for #89 bailing us out a million times.
