Smitty

I completely understand Smith's actions. Yes it looks bad on his part at times but enough is enough and he has had enough. He has no QB to carry out a game plan if there were one and no threat opposite him to take some of the pressure off.

Fox's plan is to win with the running game. If it's not clicking then we loose. That's not acceptable with me. (I know who cares) Pep's big contract has crippled us but it goes deeper than that. Good coaches find young players to fill in. A team can't keep everybody year in and year out. Some times you have to let people go and replace them with young talent. I know we have done that to an extent but 3-5 with the hardest part of the schedule to go is pretty disheartening. I feel for Steve and wish him the best.

The Fox/Delhomme connection reminds me so much of the Jim Haslett/Aaron Brooks connection. We didn't have a Steve Smith, but we had a Joe Horn who was the victim of the Brooks' incompetance. The total irony in all of this is that Delhomme was the backup who didn't get to play...and so he came to Carolina.

What is even more ironic is that Sean Payton & Joe Horn never got along and Joe Horn never did get those catches he should have had.

All of you defending Smith, I take it you also defend Allen Iverson right now?

it's practice dog, we talking about p-r-a-c-t-i-c-e! Best Iverson quote ever!

It will be a sad day when Steve Smith leaves this team.

Then I'd have to buy a new jersey. Hell, maybe two! One for whatever team Smith goes to... and I guess a D-Will/Stewart jersey. Or maybe Beason/Harris. Or all 7 of those. Hell, I'll get a Gamble and Peppers jersey too!

that's why we are winning Jan; Payton got rid of those bad charachter guys. Remember that guy we got from the Redskins that they caught stealing out of lockers....what was his name? Payton doesn't put up with this BS.

problem isn't smith.

problem is he isn't a part of a gameplan that is built around it's lack of trust for their QB.

This. Though Smitty could be more professional...his career will be ruined by beaing on this team. I feel sorry for him. I can only imagine his stats if he were on an Arizona, New Orleans, Indianapolis, New England, etc. I can't fathom how the OP puts this on Smith, and expects him to be ok with his CRAP role in this CRAP offense.

Joe Horn had bad character??????? Since when? He was a loud mouthed smack talker who spoke of himself in the third person, but I don't think his character was bad. People keep thinking he was involved in the Willie Roaf baby-daddy scandal, but it wasn't him. It was Joe JOHNSON. Joe Horn offered to take a DNA test. He was and is a good family man. He still comes home to Fayetteville where I live. He's one of the good guys. I think he was probably too much of a prima donna for Payton.

Albert Connell was that locker room thief if my memory is correct.

I don't mind Smith being upset about his role.

What I mind is him cussing out the offensive coordinator on live TV. What I mind is him not even trying for a pass late in the game. What I mind is all of this coming from a guy who should be doing whatever he can to be a good teammate. But then, it's not like being a good teammate was ever a concern for Smitty, was it?
