Jake is costing Smith Endorsement dollars and trip to pro-bowl. He has to spring downfield on every play to open up running game and now knows only passes that can get to him are 5yrds in length.

Most great receivers play with an attitude like Smith's, this is what happens when the player he needs most implodes. Look at Randy Moss in Oakland vs. Randy Moss in New England.

You guys are missing the point. Steve Smith and Julius Peppers are the most talented players on the team, by far. But you don't let them cuss you out in front of everyone on the sidelines. You don't let them run downfield on a pass play late in the game and not even look up. In football, you need to know that everyone is rowing in the same direction. Smitty stopped a long time ago. He's upset because he's not getting his individual numbers. He's even airing it out in the press.

How would you feel if Beason said "Aw to hell with it, I'm not going to make as many plays with Kemo out this year." You'd be pissed. But for some reason Smitty, who has been given second, third, and fourth chances with this franchise, always gets the free pass.

in my opinion, the problem is the game plan the panthers set up every week. it's not steve's fault as an individual, it's the coaching staff's. I myself am frustrated that they can't get their best playmaker the ball, and i'm not even steve, nor do i have his wide receiver ego. yes he is throwing temper tantrums and that is unacceptable, act like a professional steve, but to put the blame squarely on his shoulders is just ignorant. Jake can't get him the ball (or anyone for that matter), and it's fox's fault that they don't have a QB in the waiting to take over for him playing so terribly. he's been here what, 8-9 years now? and all he has is a reject backup from europe who couldn't even start over aaron brooks? I appreciate what jake and fox did in the past, but as you all know, the NFL is a "what have you done for me lately?" kind of league, and lately, the game plans have sucked, the play calling has sucked, the passing game has sucked, fox's decisions have sucked,and jake delhomme has super sucked.

i'm going to disagree with you right here, he is not phoning it in. Have you watched him block this season for the running backs? watch highlights of d-wills and his big runs and you will see steve throwing some monster blocks downfield. yeah he is pissed he's not getting his numbers, i understand that, but he's not being as big of a bitch as you are making him out to be.
