Smitty

How the fug do you expect him to produce when the 11 players on the other side of the field know with 90% certainty what we're going to do each time we line up? Also, I don't see anyone else out there catching the ball, other than the occasional tight end, produce anything either...

You can't make a trade now anyways, so moot point there, n00b...

lol I dont think meat is a noob...he is a veggie head tho :D

The point is he's not producing. He has given up on Jake, pure and simple. And once you've gone there, you're not coming back.

I'm not saying Jake's play has in any way been acceptable. I'm saying you have a volatile WR who is already a cancer in the locker room and it's only going to get worse.

Oh yea lol, yall kill me too man

Smith has fallen off, his best days are behind, he isn't the same

When just last year he was the single factor from us going 12-4, to 10-6. If he didn't do what he did in the Packers & Saints game, we might not have even went to the playoffs. The defending of Jake is just nothing I've seen before, I mean its ridiculous. Knowing our QB is that bad, you make those comments and feel extremely strong about them. Also knowing if Smith was with the Colts, you wouldn't anybody dare say those things. If you say he's having an off year, just like the team. Thats fine, but yall taking it to another level

Who is defending Jake? I blame him the most for our record. I'll defend Jake as a decent human being but not as a NFL quarterback. Smith's speed, route running, hands, and concetration have not been the same. Either he has dropped off or isn't trying either way I do no like it.

Want me to dump Jake to. His accuacy has been complete crap, and his confidence and poise has been shot to hell. I'm not even sure if he is even a leader on this team anymore. (When he was asked if he should be the QB)

Some of the blind loyalty to Smitty on here is honorable, but short-sighted.

If you traded Steve Smith to...let's say Chicago. How many good years do you think he'd have there? His best years are clearly behind him. He might jump up and get 1,000 yards or 100 catches again once or twice, but 2005 Smitty is gone. Unless he's on steroids.

Right now his attitude is a problem and his production, whatever the cause, isn't justifying the headaches. If you traded him my guess is the locker room would rally around Fox and this team would make a run at the playoffs. Keep him and this team implodes and finishes 6-10.

We can't make trades and even I agree we would finish with a worse record this year. Playoffs seem unreachable with Jake at QB bottom line. I am on board with two more seasons of 1000+ yards then he is done. :nopity:

Meat, what's your perception of Smitty's trade value. Just how good of a draft pick do you think he willl bring?

Yep, he definitely needs a "side-kick".

Hopefully, it is as good as all the fan boys think. But unfortunally it probally won't even bring in what Roy Williams got. Roy was a lot younger.

Depends on the team, doesn't it?

You look for a team that is contending but sorely lacking the WR department...or just a situation where a team thinks it can revive 2005 Smitty for another couple of years....Cincinnati? Baltimore? San Diego?

I bet those teams would give you at least a second rounder.

So is it true teams can't trade any more? I know the trading deadline passed just recently, but they still make trades in baseball after the so-called deadline.

Cant trade any more this season.

I have been saying it for a while. The best thing that we can do for us and for Smith is to trade him to a good team, with a good QB. We need the picks big time, and he needs to be on a team going up, not starting to rebuild.

Cincy or Baltimore is where we should try to pick up some draft picks. Good QB's, coaching, and in the AFC.

BTW, SD would not take him. They have Legs, Jackson, Davis, Floyd, and Gates.

I just don't see his best years being behind him. He's still fighting and making catches. He's still a threat to opposing teams and he is still a viable downfield option for the deep ball. I've never seen anyone work any harder and often in training camp he was one of the last people to leave the field because he was running extra routes and putting in extra work.

He's had an off year obviously but look at what's been going on outside of just him. It's very hard to point to him as the core cause of Carolina's problems. We are a run first and run heavy team. Due to how things have panned out already this year with all the turnovers and the conservative style of the Panthers play, I really don't think he is the sole one to blame over any lack of production.

I don't see how he has given up on Jake or any of these "head aches." I really don't. I'd love for more evidence of this because I just haven't seen it. I just saw a video of him actually playing as a leader for the team this year and working towards motivating and supporting his teammates. Evidence of this is when he is seen talking with Captain just talking about don't worry about it and to basically bounce back from his mistake. I've even seen him tell Jake even if you throw 50 interceptions you're still my man. So I don't see how he would cause the team to "implode" nor have I seen any evidence of him being a cancer.

He is an aggressive player who wears his heart on his sleeve and puts a lot into the game. He's a very talented, emotional player. I really don't see any problem with it. He isn't causing up any form of drama or running a media circus. He is there doing his job. He's been with the team when they won one game in his rookie year--he'll be here through this season as well.

I don't see him being traded to anyone nor would I want to see him traded.
