I'll be in the middle of moving to our new house. So probably painting. If we have time, I think we'll go to the wife's family for dinner for a Russian style thanksgiving. Not sure about turkey; it will probably be meat pie, olivier salad and fish.

Olivye and Shuba salads?  That’s what we having.

Well shuba is required every time I go so it hardly bears mentioning. My wife's mom makes the absolute best.

My wife is Vietnamese and she loves shuba.  This will be the first thanksgiving we forego Turkey.  Just doing mostly salads and few steaks and a lot of booze.

Just me and the wife.  Its the only meal we cook together each year.  No friends or family this year.

We will do the full spread but on a much smaller scale.

Wait, what?

You and your wife cook 1 meal together per year?

To add, likely heading to the Topsail Beach to do some trout fishing, maybe a red or two, then stop by the parents place for lunch and beers...then roll the boat back to Wrightsville to hang with friends.  Gonna be around 75 here on Thanksgiving, but may not be sunny.

Excited to get a little break from work.

Our plans keep changing but here's where we are at now.  We have a 2nd place in Columbia, SC (we live in VA Beach) so that's where we will be because she has to work in Charlotte on Thursday.  I have to work on Wednesday and then I will drive out to Charlotte Wednesday night.  So we will be in a hotel on Wednesday and driving down to Columbia with her sometime on Thursday mid day.  I was going to try to make something but thats not going to work, so I'm going to try to order a pre-made turkey from Lizards Thicket or some place like that.

It will just be the 2 of us.

Yes.  The other days either I cook or she does.

Since its just the two of us there is rarely enough to do for a meal that the extra person has much/anything to do

My wife and I cook most every night...and when I say we, I mean I cook and she has a glass of wine and talks to me.

You guys ever try any of the home delivery meal services? We've been doing Home Chef for almost 4 years now and it's the best. We started with 2 meals per week and, since the COVID outbreak in March, I upped it to 3 meals per week. Seriously, all fresh ingredients, good selection of meals to choose each week and it beats take-out prices:

2 people/2 meals: $49.80 delivered; if you go with 3 meals, they drop the shipping and it's $59.70, that's less than $10 per serving.

Highly recommended. We tried a couple of the other players in the market- Plated, Hello Fresh and Blue Apron, but Home Chef has by far been the best.

We have, just because my wife had a coupon or a free month or something.

I'm a total food snob when it comes to dinner.  Lunch, sure, I may have Jersey Mikes or some tacos from a taco truck, but at night I throw down.

End of the day I prefer the better tasting food, but the cooking aspect of it calms me down.  It's one of the times during the day that work isn't swimming around in my head.

That's the best part for me, doing the prep work and the cooking. Food is good, but I enjoy the time I'm prepping and the wife and I just have conversation.
