Ya you can tell there's some frustration on both ends. DJ's is pretty visible and I think to a degree its effecting his game.

I don’t understand it though - you’d think he’d flourish in this offense but, as someone said earlier, part of the problem is TB inability or unwillingness to get him the ball. He’s been wide open numerous times. It’s hard to survey the field when you have little time to throw but that’s for another thread.

DJ’s good is good. But it’s not close to elite.

I’m not saying DJ isn’t good or damn near great but there can be only a handful of elite WRs. DJ is not there yet.

I’m not saying he’s elite yet. But he is great, considering his circumstances. As you said, there’s only a handful of elite and none on our team, but we do have two greats and one situationally great (Samuel).

The best argument for keeping DJ is that the kind of offense we run is probably more effective if you have three good receivers as opposed to two.

If you want to let one of them go, I kind of hope we sign or draft a good number three. That, or upgrade the tight end position.

Agree :100_Emoji_42x42: and could actually see us going this route if things don’t work out with DJ. Samuel could be a good 2nd or 3rd WR. And don’t forget Omar Bayless was making a case for a roster spot before he got hurt. But really hope things will click with DJ.

I'm fine with them loving Teddy. Honestly, he seems like a great guy. But if they think that he's "the guy", well... we're good and proper fuged.

If you go with Teddy, you need a stud OL, a stud TE, and a stable full of WRs.   We have 1 of those.

DJ's skill traits are hard to replace. Curtis Samuel not so much. Not saying Curtis is not good (matter of fact, he has proven to be a great player), but a speedy gadget player is a dime a dozen. I mean look at the league, there is pretty much one on every team.

I just dont think Samuel will be worth the money it will take to keep him. The open market will possibly drive his cost to be higher than what he can extend moore at.

Which brings up a question...

Outside of McCaffrey, Moore was probably the best receiving option the team had last year. There's an argument to be made that he's only the third best this year (again, not including McCaffrey).

Would you disagree?

Yeah. He's a better receiving option than Samuel.

I am not going to lie, people---I am a TB supporter--a 3 year contract to help us transition to a guy with the chance to earn the job--a good deal.  However, it is like deciding to keep your car when riding through a new car parking lot.   If that kid from BYU is there, I think any of the top 4 QBs--we have to take him.

Teddy will get better as his OL improves, but we a poised to make a run for the Super Bowl over the 3 years. Is TB that guy? I do not see it yet--but I am also smart enough to know that the QB needs protection and our OL is terrible.

Keep in mind, we're talking about a 23 year old WR on pace for 1100+ yards which would be back to back 1100+ yard seasons. If we trade him, it better be for a LOT.

But that's when you trade a player. I mean Cook's was putting up the same numbers in NoLA. If a team gives us a CB and a pick or two high picks it's worth it.

DJ being traded because we couldn’t or didn’t want to pay him isn’t really an indictment on Hurney.

When we’ve spent $26M+ on Short, Roberts, Apple and Weatherly, yes it is. Between this year and the past couple years we’ve wasted enough that we could have extended Moton, Moore and Samuel and been fine.

Draft Erik McCoy instead of Little and we wouldn’t have needed Paradis and we’d have had cap space coming out of our ass. Yes, I know Paradis was signed pre-draft but that’s because Marty had a Little boner and knew he wasn’t going to draft anyone to replace Kalil, Turner and Norwell. Huge mistake and it could have save us $25M more for young talent extensions.
