We are not going to pay Samuel $10M/yr. Funchess' best season was still better than Samuel's and what teams are going to be lining up to pay a guy like Samuel anywhere near that this year when COVID is having a big impact on teams' revenues, and will likely affect the cap next year? LT will not be gotten in FA; if it's the draft that's a couple million, not 15. Also a great chance Teddy is off the team in 2 years and we have a QB on his rookie deal.

Well, you're wrong about Funchess.

Funchess best year was 63 catches on 111 targets for 840 yards.  His productivity was inconsistent.

Here's Curtis:

If you project the rest of this season for Curtis, he winds up with around 70 catches on 80 targets for 700 yards.  Add in his runs, and you've got a guy producing nearly 1000 yards from scrimmage.  Additionally, what you see with Samuel is consistent improvement.  He's gotten more productive every year.  Most notably, his catch percentage has grown by leaps and bounds.

Maybe COVID drives the cap down and therefore contracts . . . maybe.  But saving that, SOMEONE is gonna pay him 10.  His production and growth demand it.

He's currently 13th in the NFL in receiving yardage. He was 9th last year. I mean, considering most teams carry 6 WRs, that puts him right around the 95th percentile of NFL WRs over the past season and a half. How is that not elite?

If we're the solely going off of yardage Robby is #4 are you considering him elite?

His yardage looks good but what about his WR route running & hands.

I mentioned his YAC being elite, but he is not a complete WR yet so I can't call him elite

13th with a noodle armed QB that doesn’t look his way when he’s wide open. That’s ***** incredible.

His route running and hands are also great. It’s become a huddle hive mind meme that he has a problem with drops but he’s only had a couple, no more than any other receiver.  When he doesn’t haul in the rare pass that comes his way it’s more often a bad throw

DJ is in the tier below elite in my opinion. Elite is generally considered to be top 5 at your position. DJ is not a great red zone threat and he doesn’t really ever take over a game or have defenses make him their top priority. Those are the things that hold him back from moving into the elite tier.

That also presents us a bit of a problem. He’s going to command elite money on his next contract, but he isn’t elite so he will be a bit of an overpay. That said he has been extremely durable and consistent so a slight overpay isn’t a major issue.

No point arguing, we'll find out who's right come March.

I seriously doubt we will weaken our WR corps to save money. Very unlikely and foolish. Our WRs will get payed, and as well they should. This is 2020, and we have a modern minded HC who knows how important passing the ball is to winning. Cap saving cuts should be made on the defensive side of the ball where we have washed up, injury riddled, "phoning it in" type players. Our bread and butter offensive players will be payed. The defensive players can be replaced with younger guys via the draft.

DJ’s good is good. But it’s not close to elite.

I’m not saying DJ isn’t good or damn near great but there can be only a handful of elite WRs. DJ is not there yet.

Doubt the Panther can afford CMC, Moore, Samuel, and Anderson.

Honestly I don’t care which one has to go. I hope we get something in return though.

That said lots of good later round WRs in this draft and we should get one, keep the flow of talent coming in so offensive weapon talent nor cap allocation isn’t an issue down the road like it has been for so long.

But both getting something in return and keeping talent coming in have been a huge struggle for this FO.

When did we start taking anything Joe Person says seriously?

We need to keep in mind this is from Joe person. As valuable an insight as one of us here.

I get that it’s “cool” to hate on Joe but he actually knows a lot more than you guys think

Person at The Athletic is better than Person at The Observer (Jourdan Rodrigue was too).

Mind you, I think Alaina Getzenberg is pretty good but perhaps The Observer has made some changes.

I don't really think I've seen anybody say that Moore isn't good.

I have seen more than a few suggestions that perhaps he could (or should) be better.
