DJ being traded because we couldn’t or didn’t want to pay him isn’t really an indictment on Hurney. At bare minimum, DJ has met expectations of where he was drafted which is how Hurney should be judged.

Little on the other hand has obviously been a disaster this far.

I don't know if it's strictly "don't want to pay him" though. If it were just that, I don't think we'd be seeing him underused like we are.

Are the contracts on all 3 due at the same time?

No. Samuel is a FA after this season. Robby after next season. DJ has this season and 2 more seasons under contract (assuming 5th year option is picked up, which it will be).

Either way, this is a decision for a year and a half from now -- not right now. Let's see Robby and DJ the rest of this season and next season before we decide. Samuel shouldn't really factor into the discussion.

This isn't a question "want" to pay here.  The problem is that you simply CAN'T pay everyone you would like to.

If you are paying Anderson 10, you can bet your (*@ Curtis is going to get 10 (Funchess got 10 for heavens sake).  Teddy got 20, CMC got 16.  You want a LT right?  That's 15.  You want to keep Moton?  That's gonna be 10-12.

Someone just isn't going to be able to stay.  Person is speculating it's DJ.  I don't think that's the play, but it's all about what the team says.

He's not being underused. He's played 87.2% of the snaps (13th highest in the league among WRs and highest on the team). The lack of targets has more to do with Teddy than the coaching staff. You're reading way too much into this.

Underproducing might be a better word.

Whether or not that's his fault or someone else's is a topic for discussion.

We are not going to pay Samuel $10M/yr. Funchess' best season was still better than Samuel's and what teams are going to be lining up to pay a guy like Samuel anywhere near that this year when COVID is having a big impact on teams' revenues, and will likely affect the cap next year? LT will not be gotten in FA; if it's the draft that's a couple million, not 15. Also a great chance Teddy is off the team in 2 years and we have a QB on his rookie deal.

He's 13th in the league in receiving yards... I'd hardly say he's underproducing, especially with the lack of chemistry between him and Teddy. There have been numerous posts of evidence with DJ wide open downfield and Teddy choosing to throw a shorter pass.

Little has looked like a bust. Moore has looked like an emerging elite WR. He's open a lot. For whatever reason, Teddy isn't looking his way.

I like DJ but I don't see elite.  His YAC is elite you could say but not his overall WR skill

DJ is he open yes, so is Curtis.  He does tend to force fed Robby though.

In all, we have a good WR group and catch pass catching RBs.   Targets are hard to come by

For once we have a good problem on our hands.

He's currently 13th in the NFL in receiving yardage. He was 9th last year. I mean, considering most teams carry 6 WRs, that puts him right around the 95th percentile of NFL WRs over the past season and a half. How is that not elite?

I like DJ Moore but if they are going to not resign him he needs to be traded. He is a good player and I think it would be a mistake to let him leave but this is the panthers were talking about.

Yeah you 100% obviously do not just let him walk. You trade him for a haul like Jamal Adams, Laremy Tunsil, Jalen Ramsey, etc. got.
