I Wouldn't Play McCaffrey This Week Or Next Week

McCaffrey means to much to this team. This is his 4th NFL season with no injuries till this year. A high ankle sprain that he came back from, played great and injured his shoulder, in the 4th quarter, in his first game back. Let's be honest, we'd love to see the Panthers win,  I do, but we aren't winning the Super Bowl this year, with or without McCaffrey. If shut McCaffrey, let him get his body right before putting him back in again.

If he's healthy, let him play. If he's not and he risks further injury, sit him. It's really that simple.

It's not that simple though. He was healthy when he returned last week but athletes bodies need to stay ready, or you risk overcompensating, over thinking, protecting the prevoius injury or what have you and another injury occur. I'm not saying shut him down. I'm saying let's get him practicing at full speed before exposing him to further injuries...

He got tackled and landed in a funky manner on his shoulder. That had nothing to do with any overcompensation or bodily readiness. It's just football.

I know it’s not what he would want, but I would shut him down for the year. Even if he’s fully 100% healthy and no extra risk of injury, this is a lost year.  I’d rather avoid even the standard level of risk of him having another injury this year. Keep him fresh and ready for next year when we have our new QB and hopefully another few pieces to complete the roster and we have a real shot at winning.

My "issue" is they put him right back to the loins share 98% of the load. I believe Davis only had one carry and played some lead FB for CMC at times. How fuging hard is it to give 75% of the carries to CMC and 23% to Davis (or 70/28 )?? Norv could not understand how this could be done, almost like a group of psycho fantasy footballers are holding the OCs' family at gun point during gameday.  Their was no easing him back in, there never is with him. "Lets take our by far highest paid RB at 16 million per and run him til he gets a injury method" has some flaws it seems...

Joe Person was asked about the possibility of shutting down McCaffrey in his Athletic Q&A and indicated that's probably not going to happen.

He did say that the staff won't rush him back, though.

I don't think CMC is giving the coaches a choice. It really sounded like they were gonna try and IR-DR him again(If that's possible?), If they can it would appear that's where the second opinion came in.

I really hate to think what would have happened this year if we didn't have the COVID/IR-DR list. We'd be royally screwed. Rhule sure got a boon out of this one.

Offensive coordinators are play calling to keep their jobs, or in Brady's case, for a big money new head coaching job. They are not going to use a second rate RB much at all if CMC is available. Norv, Brady, the next OC, unless we have a RB with similar talent to CMC on the roster we're going to run CMC into the ground.

CMC is not going to have a long career imo. His body is going to break down early. We need to make sure we're not the one's holding the bag paying him a fortune to sit in a hospital.

Moving forward I don't want 1st round RBs and LBs. They get beaten to hell and end up on IR too much. You don't get your money's worth, and they don't have enough of an impact on today's game.

Once you have a good QB the premium picks should be o-line, WR, and TE. Why? You've already seen that we can possess the ball and pitch and catch all the way to the redzone with little to no difficulty. That's because the rules favor passing the ball. The reason we're not scoring in the 40's regularly is because our o-line and TE positions are below average, and we lack a #1 WR (the big athletic type of WR to target in the redzone). Passing game players are what matters most.

The defense should be built based on amazing value defensive players falling into our lap in the draft, or great bargains in free agency. Otherwise save your money for the passing game. Passing is easy, and you rack up pass interference calls to boot. It's perfect.

These are minor injuries and he’s 24, I don’t see why so many huddlers freak out about it and his contract. Let him play, I promise he will still play next season and the one after at a high level. Cant just reserve him until this team is relevant...no one knows when that’ll be.
