Ill admit Id love to get a young QB like the BYU Kid, or a playmaker at TE like the Florida kid.

 

But ideally, I like this better.  This suits the team better and what the team needs.

 

1st: Patrick Surtain- the kid has good blood lines.  Has the tools to be an elite probowler CB.  The Panthers play in the toughest conference for DBs.  Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Julio, Ridley, and Michael Thomas.  It doesnt get tougher from that.  There may be a few changes this offseason like Julio traded and/or Godwin sign elsewhere.  But this is still a DC's nightmare if you have a below avg secondary.  Surtain comes in and makes an impact Day 1, combined with the you pass rushing duo of Burns and YGM.   This team is building a foundation.

2nd: Dylan Moses- in the 2nd?!  Yes the 2nd, and this is more than likely possible.  Moses is the 3rd LB off the board.  And with runs at other positions such as QB, he falls out of the 1st.   Moses has had a major knee injury and has had some issues in coverage.  But bringing him in at MLB to pair with Chinn, may be the final piece to an elite Defense.

 

3rd: Deonte Brown- all the talk is on the LT and Center.  But the interior as a whole needs work.  How many times have we complained about no push up front?  Brown is a Mauler, almost a bigger young Trai Turner.  Throw Brown onto that starting RG role and it immediately impacts this offense.

 

4th: Jake Ferguson- consistent kid.  Panthers need help at TE.

 

5th: Alaric Jackson- Jackson has been Iowa's starting LT for the last few years and has done a good job.  But his future looks like he needs to move inside.  Realistically i see Ferguson and Jackson swapping here with Jackson in the 4th Ferguson in the 5th.  Jackson can come in and start and be an upgrade.

 

6th: Dazz Newsome- Samuel, who knows if we are resigning him.  Newsome fits that slot role well.

I'm lower on Moses then most because of those coverage issues you mentioned. Some analyst have questioned whether MLB is the best place for him, so I'm not surprised to see him dropping on big boards right now.

I like this draft. Im with you in that I would prefer other players but for where we currently draft it looks like we would draft too late to take the top guys and it might be too much of a reach to grab a guy like Pitts. I respect this draft.
