Hey, I was president of the "F*ck Henning" parade while he was here. I thought the conservative playcalling and lack of offensive creativity were his fault.

After watching several Miami games (including most of the game against NE yesterday), I see I was wrong.

This philosophy is the brand of John Fox. "It is what it is", "A punt isn't a bad play", predictable runs.. these are all his. And if all 32 teams subscribed to this mantra, I'd like our chances.. we'd win games 10-3 or 14-10.

Problem is you need offensive balance and a killer instinct in this league. You can't just edge teams by small margins.. if you are beating them, you have to continue to put your boot to their throat until you hear a crack and gurgling noises.

And after you have played your guts out, changing your offensive and defensive rythm to adjust to the other team's squirming for air - and you lose - well then you lost to a better team that day but you gave it every damn thing you had.

You know it, the opposing team knows it and the fans (well, most of them) know it.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't think so, its the other way around.

Davidson should be heralded as a genius for figuring out a way to keep the offense competitive without an actual QB at the helm in the NFL. Any other team and Jake would not be winning, he would be riding the pine long ago.

That is exactly right. You cannot be a constant winner in the NFL with a QB,the most important position on a team, that would probably not even be a backup on most teams. This is a sad but actual fact and to think otherwise would be foolish,to say the least.

Rep when it comes back.

i signed on for only a minute and realized you are all dumb....panthers played their asses off against "the best team in the league" and u say all of this???? WOW...this team is heading in the right direction and you want to point fingers at everyone....f**k that....we got beat by the better team hands down....but i will say last game of the season things will change...this team is good and we took too long to come around...great game...we just got out played....you cant argue it dumbasses
we got outplayed and out-coached.

also throw in out-managed from a personnel level. while the saints decided to get a very good QB and build the team around him, the panthers decided to throw all theiur chips in on a QB who has only gotten this far because of his intangibles (being a "fiery" leader) and his relationship with the best/used to be best WR in the league. both of those are gone so now we are stuck with a team who is totally devoted to a QB they like personally but who can't win them games. they, collectively (FO/coaches/players), need to pull their heads out of the sand. it's time to move on.

not sure how you feel about this but i'm not content with losing to the better team. i expect the panthers to be the better team...always. winning is the only thing that matters. if you didn't win, you didn't play good enough.

you cant go in the right direction and lose. there are only two directions....up or down and losing isn't climbing up.

i fully expect, though, that the panthers will win the last game of the year against the saints but it won't matter because they will be resting their best players. they will be going into the playoffs and we will be trying to find our new coach (hopefully).

the only thing that matters is winning. if we can't consistently do that then we are not going in the right direction.

i'm sorry if you are happy with mediocrity but you'll have to excuse the rest of us who want the panthers to be the best and aren't happy with anything but that.

Gee you're right. We have the exact team that went 12-4 last year and we should now be very happy with a couple of moral victories in a loss in a city that we had won 7 straight games in. Clearly, we are the dumbasses and not you.

Davidson sure showed his stuff with David Carr, Vinny Testaverde, and Matt Moore, didn't he? And with the Browns? I know you love him, but he's done next to nothing with the talent he has, and when was the last time he countered a defensive adjustment successfully? He has no track record of success other than last year's season, which Jake made a huge contribution to.

I know Jake isn't the best QB out there by a long shot, but he won a lot of games with a better OC calling the plays. All Davidson's managed to do this year is put his weaknesses front and center while ignoring what he's good at. Unless you think it was Jake calling those first quarter bombs earlier this year, or deciding to pass 40+ times per game. I don't buy that though.

We scored 14 points in the first quarter yesterday, and six the rest of the way. Obviously Greg Williams made a change to his approach, where was Davidson's counter?

We can win with Delhomme under center, we've done that for years. I don't know if we can win with Davidson calling the plays, because unless he has Delhomme he hasn't shown the ability. And I think it's because he doesn't have it.

The effort was good overall, but there are no points for effort. The painful reality is that we have to go 7-1 or at least 6-2 to have a shot at the playoffs. That against the 2nd hardest remaining schedule in the league. Not realistic. So yea, the 99% chance we won't be in the playoffs sucks.

I'd love to see who you think could do anything with Jake. Pick any OC in the history of the league, and I doubt they could do anything with Jake.

Blaming Davidson for calling NFL plays for an NFL QB is laughable. If your QB can't execute rec league level plays, just maybe he shouldn't be starting in the NFL.

Carr, Vinny, Moore.

Let's see he isn't Jesus, what is Davidson supposed to turn poo into gold?

Moore is 2-1 seems to me he called good enough games to win 2 of 3, wonder what else would happen if he let Moore give it a go.

Long ago the GM would have come up with a workable alternative to Jake as well. Hurney has not.

Yep. Does anyone else agree with me that Dwill is without a doubt the MVP in the league. Without him we would have no Offense at all. BTW anyone still defending the Stewart over Flacco move. We could have had Flacco, Otah, and the RB I was pimping all draft long Ray Rice (I told you he still had plenty of gas left in the tank).

DWill should get MVP consideration. Imagine our offense without his talent. *Shudders*

Yes the Stewart>Flacco and giving away this years #1 for brown and the abortion that was the Peppers offseason is Hurney's legacy.

I hate seeing the Panthers blow a game that they should've won. As a fan, I make no apologies for that. :nonod:

There is no doubt we should have won. Dominate the way we did for a half, then once again the other team comes out after halftime adjustments and kills us. Our oplayers are better than we played, all year long.

As to the OP, I got the door open for you. By.

Davidson gave Jake many chances to prove himself the beginning of this year. Jake failed on each of those chances resulting in 13 INTs. Jake has proven that we can't trust him to throw it down the field. Davidson built a game plan to compensate for Jake by feeding our RBs. And it was a good plan. We almost beat the best team in the NFL. What more do you want Davidson to do with an inept QB such as Jake? If he called more plays downfield, Im sure there would've been at least 2 INTs. Then you would continue praising Henning while bashing Davidson like you've kept doing ever since Davidson was hired.
