Line building

I'm not familiar with this particular Twitter, but I like the comparison they make here.

Devil's advocate - they could perhaps do this because they already had Brees, who has shown himself capable of elevating lower-tier players at the skill positions and of winning shootout games since the defense was often deficient. No doubt though that a top-tier OL is a large advantage for whatever an offense wants to and should be a priority for Carolina.

That said, the Saints have found talent throughout the draft to supplement and sold their souls to the salary cap gods.

Which offensive lineman would you have preferred over McCaffrey, Moore, Burns, and Brown?

The question is which ones over the trade up for Little and the Grier selection, along with extending Moton...may have been a good start.

Going forward we should definitely address it but the tweets above make it seem like we should've drafted O Lineman instead of our other best players, so just wondering if that's the question or is it just overall dissatisfaction with where o Line is as far as team priority? I wouldn't pass on any of the first round picks we've made in recent years but I definitely think we need to open the wallet on better quality guys. This coming off-season Joe Thuney is a FA, let's give him a call. We also might have an extra third rounder? Would be a good idea to spend an early pick or two, maybe

Pay Taylor and start drafting.  Can't be done all in the next draft, or even two, but I trust Matt's process.  Seeing Little losing out to a 6th round pick last Sunday sent me into a deep depression remembering our long recent history of trying to find a LT.  I was thinking a 2 to 3 year build earlier this year.  Now I understand why Matt said 5 year process.

Second and Third round picks should be on the field now.  Our problem is our staff absolutely sucks at drafting O-linemen (minus Moton).

While it is awesome that we occasionally find a UDFA that excels it's not enough.

Hopefully, Hurney is gone before the next draft and our new staff knows how to evaluate offensive line talent.

I am interested in seeing Rhule's oline values and philosophy going forward. He is basically playing with leftovers and fillers this year. The only draft we have had with him was all D and the only long term good player is Moton who may not be here next year. So far we have rotated to try guys, like at LT with Okung out, and the talent level on the oline is pretty low yet the staff is making the most of wat they have. We don't have to take guys in the 1st to be a win. There have been plenty of second round and even 3rd round guys that could come here and start day 1 in the last few drafts. Missing on Little and what we spent to get him vs what we could have had set us back. We need a competent Oline build badly.
