Availability is an ability.

So is consistency.

So is tackling... We can all agree he is not great in that regard. Dude is so small he bounces off anyone he tries to tackle.

Donte has I think 3 picks this year but they seem less like great coverage plays and more "Right place right time" kind of deals.

I can't agree just because his career INT numbers show he had a knack for being in those "right places." He has skill, he just isn't consistent.

I respectfully disagree based on the film of the picks that he's made so far. From what I have seen, 4 of his INTs were legit good plays where he read the play well and reacted (Saints 2pt conv, two contested INTs in Bengals and Bucs games his rookie year, and the 1 against the Chargers this year) and the rest were on errant throws where he just happened to be right place at the right time (and in some of those instances, he was actually beat but the throws were just god awful and terrible).

His QB rating allowed this year is definitely lower than the two previous years, which is encouraging to see:

But that missed tackle percentage is abysmal, as is the cmp% allowed. He is also getting targeted at a much higher rate than in his previous seasons.

Compared to Douglas who showed up day before the season started:

QBR is a wash, but the cmp% is significantly lower, as are the TDs allowed. Missed tackles are also WAY lower. Both also have 6 passes defended each.

All in all, I am not a huge fan of his play and think he could be replaced through the draft and believe we should build the CB room around Douglas, not Jackson.

In this draft Surtain is the best, followed by Farley and Wade. Stingley is the best in college, but is only a sophomore this year. I usually don't say this about any position except for QB, but Stingley is a player I would be okay with aggressively moving up in the draft for.

Javon Holland is the best safety in the draft, he sat out this year due to covid.

Stingley isn't eligible until 2022 or yeah I'd be down as well.

Javon Holland and Andre Cisco are my pre combine draft crushes right now. Holland reminds me of Desmond King or Eddie Jackson and he would bolster our return game instantly, not to mention his ability to man up and play high safety. Cisco would be a pure FS who finally gets Tre Boston off the field. He will be a ball hawking animal similar to what Kevin Byard does for the Titans.

LOL we are clearly taking a QB in round 1.... Teddy can't throw the ball further than 3 yards. Teddy has arguably the best receiving core and RB in the league and he sucks.

I think it's hilarious that people want to get a QB that won't be Fields or Lawrence, therefore more than likely can't be a plug and play QB with all the holes we have on the roster. I'd rather not get a franchise QB until we have built a solid roster so that way we maximize the cost on his rookie contract. Also it makes more since cap space wise for us to cut Teddy after next season not this season. It's gotta be IOL in the 1st round IMHO, unless someone with crazy value drops to us. Fields is the only slightly realistic scenario I see us going QB in round 1 bc you can't pass on that upside.

Oh I would never argue that Douglas is not the better player, similar to Bradberry being the better player. However, Jackson is better at creating turnovers. We could argue advanced stats and metrics until we are blue in the face(and I love all those things, don't get me wrong) but Jackson having 10 INT's(which is almost top 10 as a Panther all-time) in roughly 2.5 years isn't an accident. Those kind of numbers go beyond pure luck.

The only MLB I’m ok with taking in the first is Parsons. OT will be a definite need and there should be a few solid ones after Sewell we can pick from. Offensive line should be priority one unless a QB we are high on falls to us or Parsons could be an exception because I think he is on another level. Horn is solid, but I think he will sneak into the late first...

The MLB market is scary---I agree--I am not into any others in the first--and we need a good one.  I do not see much in free agency either.  Scary.  We almost HAVE to Parsons in the first if he is there--but if Sewell were there too, I go LT all day long.

If we go QB, and that is quite possible, we will have 4 good ones in the early first.  However, if we do NOT need one, the trade back price would be rich.

But you know this happens every year.  I personally think 4-5 will go in round 1-maybe more by April.  The ideal spot is to sit with Teddy and take a rich package on a trade up and get 3-4 starters in the draft--MLB, OT, CB, C.  Good first two days.
