Why is everyone so hard on Teddy?

How do you know it’s exactly what both Rhule and Brady wanted and not just he has qualities of what they want but had to settle based on available options? Brady had Burrow. I doubt Bridgewater is exactly what he wants.

When Rhule finishes piecing things together in the off-season and this team continues to build chemistry it will become readily apparent that Teddy is his guy...and by middle of next year all of these negative Teddy posts will be gone.

I understand you are confused. Just be patient...

Teddy is what Rhule and Brady wanted for now. Someone that knew the system. My brother in law is a Vikings fan. I kept up with Teddy ever since his days in Minnesota. Teddy is a game manager. Nothing more.

You think it’s going to take just this offseason?

For the "we need a better OL" argument.  Of course we want a better OL, but I'd also venture to say that our current offense, and Teddy basically being a first read/dump it off guy, makes that less of a need until he starts stretching the field with regularity.  Also for fun, our OL rankings per Football Outsiders...

  • 2020 - 13th
  • 2019 - 17th
  • 2018 - 11th
  • 2017 - 25th
  • 2016 - 25th
  • 2015 - 12th
  • 2014 - 27th
  • 2013 - 14th

Teddy is "technically" working with one of our best OL's in years. Teddy's arm limitations and going deep 1-2 times per game don't exactly help us out.  He's a game manager, it is what it is. Give him a better OL and I still don't think that's changing our offense from quick routes, check downs, and barely going deep so the extra pass protection point is almost moot to an extent.

Teddy is going to catch warranted (and plenty of unwarranted) ricochet shots all year long.  Nobody here hates the guy, there's just a group who thinks he's limited and sees our ceiling being 8-9 wins with him under center. I was wrong on Herbert, but I'd happily ship Teddy out for him right about now.  Same for the prospect of drafting Lawrence/Fields. And sadly, I feel like we'll keep repeating this exercise in the 2022 Draft and beyond as we wonder if we re-sign a low-ceiling Teddy, or have to blow it up and do this song and dance again.

Ultimately, there are Huddlers that believe you build a successful, Super Bowl winning franchise by getting whatever they believe is a franchise QB by any means necessary asap while there are other Huddlers that believe you build a successful, Super Bowl winning franchise by building a complete roster.

Both models have worked, just comes down to preference.

Your first group is only half-true because you build the roster regardless, but they don't pass on getting a franchise guy just because you already have a QB who is 'decent enough'. The second group is perhaps fine settling and taking their chances, but both want the best players everywhere.

Call the first one the Kansas City Model if you like, as that's an exact example of the difference a QB brings to the table wheb the rest of the roster and staff don't have to be perfect to win.
