Why is everyone so hard on Teddy?

We dont know what Teddy is right now. He's got a 1sr year NFL coach and OC, a shitshow for an oline, and is playing without the benefit of preseason. I dont think it's fair to judge him quite yet.

he isnt here "to be judged" at all

Because he’s not that good. He’s ok, but we were accustomed to 7.5 years of great QB play, then 1.5 of injury riddled bad QB play which is easier to stomach because there’s hope, to now we have what we have.  Mediocre QB play. It’s tough to have such a drastic downgrade when it’s not a Colts situation with Manning to that guy before Luck where you know you have a chance at a good QB in the near future.  We’re in QB purgatory.

Lol what.

Hard on Teddy?  Yea, maybe.  But look at the list of QB's who win the SB.  How many "game managers" do you see on that list?  Oh, sure, there are some . . . and when you find them, you'll also find a defense that was just "lights out".  2015 comes to mind quickly.  The bottom line is that the far greater opportunity for long term success in this league is to find your franchise QB.  That guy who can win games for you.

Teddy is not showing himself to be a guy who can win games for you, despite multiple opportunities.  He can keep you close, he won't lose games for you, but he doesn't appear to be winning them either.  Isn't that sort of the definition of a game manager?  I think we ALL wanted to see Teddy become that guy.  What better than to pull a franchise QB out of the dumpster.

The folks who are 'going hard' at TB5 have seen enough.  He's fine for keeping it close, but I'd like to have a franchise guy who can go win some games for us.  Ask yourself this:  What would our record be this year with Russell Wilson under center?  Mahomes?  Rodgers?  etc.

Teddy is a valuable backup QB who won't lose games for you.  He's not a stone cold killer who will take control and stick a knife in the other guys.  Teddy is fine for now, but we need to be careful not to "settle" for him long term.

Midway through his sixth season? Yeah we do.

He is what many of us tried to say he was. A decent game manager. Nothing more, nothing less.

We could be 9-0 if the secondary and oline wasn’t trash.

why bring in a new QB when the obvious fundamentals are the worst in the league?

one step before the next, TB is hurt whether you believe it or not and Cam was ruined for the same mistakes

pretty clear QB is not step 1

Teddy isn’t it regardless of o-line or not. He’s proven time and time again to suck ass when it matters.

If we are say pick 6 and Trevor, Fields, and Lance, are gone I could see a situation where Sewell is there AND that will help Teddy more than you think.

Sewell might actually be the best player in this draft.
