Zero killer instinct for Teddy

Offensive talent around him wasn’t great and he won an MVP and took us to a Super Bowl with Teddy Stonehands and Philly Brown. Teddy B has 11 passing touchdowns in 9 games after getting a 20+ million dollar multi year contract. Cam needs no defending this season or the last two. For an offense that has the only running back that had 1k/1k/100 in a season, a 1k yard receiver, a free agent receiver playing above his pay level and Curtis Samuel being the king of third downs... we shouldn’t have to make up so many excuses as a fan base for non clutch QB play.
Even today we were up what? 14-3? What happened? Why couldn’t we continue to score? Everyone wants to blame playcalling because they don’t know what play was called or what read was made but at the end of the day even the worst playcall looks good when players execute. Unfortunately, when it comes time to be clutch Teddy, amongst others has failed to execute. Our offense has too much talent to be in the bottom half of the league.

I was told before the season started, that this is the least talented team in the NFL by 75% of the people on this board.  We were the least talented Panthers team maybe ever and we had no depth at any position.  When did this change?

Not on offense. Who was claiming that CMC, DJ Moore and Robbie Anderson weren’t talented? People weren’t sure about Ian Thomas or Curtis Samuel. Samuel has delivered. Thomas sucks. But the talent was there. And if you can find a quote from somebody claiming we are the least talented team, considering you said 75% of the board, I’d like to remind you that I’m not 75% of the board and did not make that claim. So that isn’t relevant to me.

Rhule was 2-10 in his first season at Temple. He was 1-12 in his first year at Baylor. He's walking into a similar dumpster fire here. He completely tears down to completely rebuild. Call it tanking, call it rebuilding, it's just semantics. The end result is a lot of L's in the first year.

How in the hell could that be possible since we lost Luke and Bradberry?  And please dont give me this rookie talent hype.  They may pan out down the road but no way in hades early on.

We aren't "tanking" but we also aren't putting together a complete team.  We've got more holes than a block of cheese and our depth is non existent.  Dead cap is one of the highest in the league.  So many new faces with no preseason games to build experience.  Schedule is easy at the start and then we go against the top teams of the NFL.  If we start the season 0-4, there's about a 70% chance we finish with less than 3 wins.

All I've gotta say about the notion of the Panthers "tanking" is, there were 3 starters from the 2011 offense on the 2015 Superbowl team (Newton, Olsen, Kalil). There was 1 starter from the 2011 defense on the 2015 Superbowl team (Charles Johnson).

Doesn't matter if you think this team is trying to lose or not, a winning roster is going to look a LOT different than this one.

This roster just needs to develop a few gems and continue building through the draft.

Give me some of what you're smoking if you think a secondary with Donte Jackson as your #1 CB is going to win one game against Tom Brady, Drew Brees, or Matt Ryan.

0-6

We have "a chance" vs Denver and LV... Ron knows all the weaknesses of this defense and will eat us alive.

2-14.

they arent going to intentionally tank but they'll suck hard enough into a top 3 draft pick

All the quotes above came from the same thread.  Over a period of like 2 days.  Maybe some people thought we had talented but most of this board not so much.

Well, defensive personnel at least. Personnel on the back end is about the same. Rivera always neglected CB's and the safety position.

Indeed.

And I would add OL to your list. All badly ignored under Rivera, a lack from which the current team is still suffering.

Additionally, its shocking to this day how badly MoRon wasted the careers of 2 legendary NFL players.

Best believe I agree. I've seen a lot of Panthers fans say "Imagine a prime Cam with this staff, and these weapons." Not going to lie, Chinn and a prime Luke would have me giddy inside.
