I think they are absolutely in a position to tank. They still have both games left against the Jets. They could throw both of those games and essentially guarantee themselves the number one pick.

That team had so many opt outs that it would be brilliant by Belicheck to just throw in the towel on this season. Let Gase win a couple meaningless game and get your next stud QB to add to a team that can bounce back in a hurry.

I don't think trying to throw the game, even if the entire roster was in on it, and paying off the seven officials would be enough to lose to the Jets.  Through 8 games, they score an average of 12 points a game....and give up an average of 30.  That is getting close to 1976 Bucs territory.

I'm not even sure Belichick can figure that out.

Stidham has had plenty of opportunities to show if he could bring a spark.  He absolutely is worse than Cam.  The Patriots are not yet (*were not yet - things may change now) in a place where they want to tank either.

I don’t know what’s so hard to understand about this, dude was 3rd on the depth chart and every single time he’s gotten playing time he’s thrown an int.

I also guess people forgot the new playoff rules, no reason to give up on the season

It's BB who knows, I would bet Cams out of the NFL next season though he just isn't a starter at this point and he won't want to be a backup....

He should retire.  He Gave it a shot.  Really hard for pro athletes to let go  wish him well but it looks like he is about 50% of what he used to be

i watched  a lot of that game on Sunday ticket.  Pats have a lot of people out due to injury and covid opt outs

even before he fumbled the ball in the last drive, cam was not securing that ball.as he ran. As a long seasoned pro, He should have known better.

I remember back when people here were clamoring for a mega deal extension for Cam in 2017 and other posters warned that he would fall off like a RB at 30...  His style was never going to afford him a long career.

Justin Herbert, wow.

I know they are still only 2-4, but I may have been really wrong on him. He didn’t look good to me at all last year in big games and the coaching staff really looked like they didn’t trust him (all short passing) unless he was playing some of those awful PAC 12 Ds.

It wasn’t that I thought he’d be bad but that I didn’t think he had top tier upside. Don’t know exactly where he’ll end up but he’s got some weapons in Williams, Allen and Henry.

I think most people, including me, more upset about how it was done

he did many great things on and off the field for the Carolinas and Atlanta. Hopefully, he watched his money.   I wish him the best

Bellinchek lost nothing by trying. He will come out if the 2021 draft in a good place, that is, if he continues

And he knows how to use them

I wish him nothing but well in life, The NFL is a business at the end of the day he was far from the first to meet a rather unceremonious end as the face of a franchise.
