But not really. The question is do we keep paying a guy who isn't a pro bowler MLB money to be a weak side LB. It would be a totally different argument if he was a signal caller or a great cover LB but he's neither.

He’s not bad 

He’s decent, we all thought he would be much more so he’s a bit below our expectations. HeS not bad ... not awesome though.. just decent .

Not 100 percent worth the contract but close .
again , he’s not bad ... but not  great .. has some good moments and I think he contributes a lot outside the X and O’s 

Like a Toyota Tacoma ... Not necessarily worth  the money ... but you like driving around in it and it will produce a decent product most of them time.

He's worth the contract until after next season. If he hasn't become an elite LB by the end of next season, you gotta cut him lose before his cap hit skyrockets.

Why would we want someone that leads a defense that gives up season highs in points and loses to Virginia and Florida State? I don’t even know if they were season highs and I don’t care. That’s embarrassing.

He'll be a problem for the cap if he's retained beyond next season and isn't giving us elite play. In a vacuum, no Shaq isn't the problem. But nothing happens in a vacuum. You can't badly overpay players for what they bring and that's what we'll be doing with Shaq if he isn't cut after next season and hasn't significantly stepped up his play.

Shaq is an above average to good player being paid great player money. He is overpaid there is no real debating that.

Shaq is also still one of our better players on defense and our defensive depth is appalling. Cutting him would leave far too big of a hole that we wouldn’t really have a good way to fill. We already need a new MLB. That’s why I can support a trade if the compensation is good because then we can use that pick to draft a replacement, but cutting him means you either have to sign someone and to replace at similar levels in free agency would cost at least $6M or use up a draft pick which we desperately need to use to fill other gaping holes on the team and restock depth.

No one is trading for an overpaid LB. They probably see the same thing we do. Yeah, he's decent. Then they look at that contract and LOL.
