Me too! We had a route we would take everyday, we would cook dinner together, TV time, nap time where I could work on job finding, at first as a working dad I thought it would get old but it never did.

For me one thing I thought would get old was grilling my lunch.  Hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, chicken breasts.   Yummm!  Nope, never got old!  I'd text some of my buddies who were at the office pics of my latest grilling session. LOL

How many times has a company ever given an employee a two week notice before cutting them loose? Yeah...

When I was a kid, it was commonplace for people to work decades for the same company. These days, you're an old head with most companies if you've been there 5+ years. There are so many layoffs, "restructures", etc. There's no reason to show any loyalty to most companies.

In my industry it isn't about the company as much as its about the people.  Like you said there is quite a bit of movement, so we never know when we will bump into someone from our past with a different company.

My previous job was a covid cut.  It took 6 months for me to find a job that might come close to replacing what I lost.   Good news is that I will be working remotely, and am looking forward to that. Also has good benefits.  The position is a base plus commission so no guarantees but I believe I can be successful. My 2nd interview was my 1st Zoom experience.

I know I am lucky...there are a lot of people who cannot find a decent job these days.  But damn...I would never have thought that I would ever be unemployed for 6 months.  It is a tough new world.

Good for you Lady. Knew you would pull thru it has been the worst of times for all of us. You made it!

Thank you.  This is not the greatest job and time will tell if the money will work out but, I am working, I have benefits...not having health insurance for so long was very worrisome, and as I said before.... I am working from home.  With they way things are going now, that last part is worth a lot.

Also glad to hear you're back to work as well. I've heard "furlough" mentioned a few times and had that conversation with my staff a couple weeks ago. Very difficult to do knowing they're all hourly and have families and kids, but I couldn't not say anything. I told them there were discussions and that, from a pure business perspective, it may be a tough choice nobody wants to make, but to financially prepare themselves for a couple months, at a minimum.
