I see. Does he have an underlying condition? Seems like a potential mistake for a mid round pick trying to earn playing time.

A player doesn't need to have any underlying conditions to opt out for the season. It is showing concern for his family and keeping them safe. What is so wrong with that.

Well, as I said if he is interested in being a starter in the NFL, missing a season could negatively effect his development. Whether you think it’s a good reason or not. What is so wrong with that.

Also, your premise that it would somehow be less safe to play this season is misguided at best. Playing for one of these major sports leagues and getting tested constantly with immediate medical attention and quarantine for any positive test is likely one of the safest possible situations you could put yourself in.

And I was just asking if he had an underlying condition, not saying he NEEDED one.

I would imagine he or someone close to him would be at risk. Maybe he is just worried about long term affects of the virus. Several college players opted out as well. Either way he has potential and can still earn his spot back next year if he desires. If he can’t make the cut next year, he probably wasn’t going to have much of a career anyway.

I do like the possibility of Burns, Haynes, YGM, Weatherly, and Miller all rotating on the ends next year.
