Can you count for me the times Bridgewater had more than 2 seconds to drop back and make the field stretching pass that you so want last night? I'll be waiting.

At one point Matt Ryan had a full 1 second time to pass advantage (it kept track of it if you watched Amazon Prime on PC

His play style, if not physical, limitations have been there his entire time in the league. The difference when Walker was in the game was palpable. Not that Walker is better at this point - he absolutely isn't - but the dynamic definitely improved.

A deep pass is 20yds downfield. This was already beaten to death before the season began.

Head to head deep passing attempts compared to the opposing QB:
LV (Carr) - 4:3
TB (Brady) -3:?
LAC (Herbert) - 2:4
ARI (Murray) - 4:?
ATL (Ryan) - 3:?
CHI (Foles) - 3:1
NO (Brees) - 5:0
ATL (Ryan) - 4:4

Teddy has one game where he took less deep shots than the opposing QB, and that was against the Chargers (unless passing charts for TB/ARI/ATL turn up).

It's also been beaten that 20 yard passes don't change games or flip field. Every NFL QB better be able to throw the ball 20-30 yards.

Makes me wonder if the Vikings knew something when they got rid of Bridgewater. I remember some articles in 2015 saying the staff was frustrated with Bridgey’s limitations and inability to push the ball down the field.
When they saw that Cousins(Which now is funny in hindsight because he is terrible) was available and had, on paper, better skill set than Tedder they jumped at the opportunity.
I was really hoping we’d face the Vikings in the divisional game because I wasn’t scared of Bridgewater.

There is a lot of revisionist history with Teddy.  The fact is there were a lot of questions about Teddy even before his knee injury.  He had questions going into the draft about his potential, and if he was just a high floor prospect with a low ceiling.  That's why he went from a 1st overall pick to almost falling out of the 1st round.  And then in his first 2 years, he looked exactly like the kind of player people were concerned he would be.  A middling game manager.

That's why the Vikings moved on.  If Teddy had shown more than he did before his knee injury, you obviously keep him and giving him another chance eventually.  Or at least make somewhat of an effort.  But he didn't look worth the wait.  And never has.

Are you implying that Matt Rhule is wrong when he says that the defense has to not give up any explosive plays, which he classifies as 20yds+, and that he instead should be telling them to prevent 30yd+ plays?

Is he calling 20+ yards game-changing and/or field-flipping like I am and have consistently referred to since all of this Bridgewater talk started? No. They're two different concepts, with the plays I'm referring to being a subset of a wider group of plays that he is referring to in your specific example. The plays I'm referring to are what the best teams can capitalize on and what Teddy does not (even if only yet) readily bring to the table.

I linked an article from December 2015 in another thread noting concern about Teddy's lack of big plays. This has been associated with him since college and is not anything new.

Give Bradford credit. No one in the history of football has made more money for doing less on the field than Sam Bradford. Bradford is the 17th highest paid NFL player of all-time. LOL!

Kirk Cousins?

Updated: 55 no's, 4 yes. I think it's safe to say, no one but JI and literally 3 more people on here think Teddy's the future.

Regardless, we should've tanked the whole season. Everyone knew we needed a QB. DAMN YOU RHULE AND YOUR STAFF FOR BEING GOOD COACHES! DAMN YOU TO HELL!

I like Teddy the guy but was very unexcited about signing Teddy the player and am not surprised at the results so far. That said in my eyes the entire team gets the benefit of an entire season before drawing any conclusions, but it's completely fair to continually discuss what we're seeing on the field and any trends emerging.

Assuming something crazy doesn't happen with Teddy's development what I really don't want to see is the passing up of a potential higher-tier QB, or put another way I sincerely hope that upgrading the position would remain high on the priority list. As a fan Rivera being retained after 2018 just crushed my enthusiasm and I'm entirely burnt out on 'good enough.' Some time to rebuild is A-OK as long as it looks like the organization actually has a plan and is not hesitating to cut ties with underperformers/guys that aren't getting it done.

Some of you think it is so easy to find an amazing franchise QB.

Then why do less than half of all NFL teams have one?

Nah, that's the thing and something I have to get over...  even when I watch all the guys everyone is talking about in college, none of them look like that guy to me either.  If Ron wasn't so scared for his job and as result, decided to ride Cam into the oblivion and wreck his entire body, we had THAT guy for 10-15 years (maybe).  When I watched Cam in college, I KNEW he was going to be just what he was in his prime.  So, we had the guy and like all things for our franchise, it didn't last long because we had a staff who shouldn't have been employed running the show.  They destroyed him.  So, now, we are where we are now.  Again, stepping away from the emotional/reactive stuff related to games, I like Teddy, but it is an unfair situation for him to have been put in.  And I maintain I always thought Teddy was solid dating back to college, but I don't believe he can carry a team, and that to me is what defines a franchise QB.  So, as you said, we find ourselves in that middling pack that aren't sure what they have at QB.  And that sucks.  And again, from what I've seen in college, I don't have much confidence that we will find a surefire franchise guy anytime soon.

well, the good news is.  Brady, Rodgers, Wilson, Mahomes (the best guys in the NFL).....weren't viewed as surefire franchise guys either.

Yeah, and it is all subjective, bc I know many of the "experts" didnt think Cam was that guy either.  But, you're right...  and I actually trust this staff to identify and develop talent, so there is that.
