They're definitely less important than they used to be but if they're the glaring weakness they're still going to stick out.

LB is easily our strongest position as a franchise. There are very few organizations since our inception that can top our LBs, particular MLB. Honestly, if you only include time since our inception, I don't think anyone can too us at MLB. And yet we have a losing record as a franchise. Hence why I don't think it's a great idea to continue dumping a disproportionate amount of our resources into the position versus what most other teams do.

that is what? 19 straight years of studs occupying the middle?   We definitely got spoiled in that one aspect. I'd imagine LB in general has been our strongest position in franchise history too.

yeah, Hurney knows LBs and RBs.  The rest alluded him.

Jones and Ridley are going to put up big numbers.  Offense is going to have to score big to win IMO.  Not having Douglas to guard Julio especially is a frightening proposition.  I got a feeling Donte is going to look as bad as he did against Mike Evans.

Our defensive gameplan last game was the epitome of bend but don't break.  It was almost like Phil Snow was content to let the Saints comfortably get into FG range and then try to hold them to just a FG.

It's frustrating to watch, but unfortunately I think it probably gives us the best chance to win with how thin we are on defense.  Don't make a big mistake on defense and hope the opposing offense can't sustain drives.  And hopefully get yourself a defensive turnover.

This team has plenty of heart, but we just aren't there on talent.  Even on defense, we have some blue chip players in Burns, Brown, and Chinn, but we need at least that many again to truly have a defense that can compete.

Still, this game tonight is winnable, but it's going to require discipline on defense and some explosive plays on offense.  I want to see our WR group outplay Jones & Ridley.  It's a tough task but not impossible, and it's going to go a long way in deciding what could turn into a shootout, weather permitting.

i'm thinking the same thing.  its gonna just be another keep everything in front of you game on D.  its painful to watch but i understand its our best chance.  ryan can be amazing.  i hope he's not tonight.

I’m with you on this. We need somewhere in between Luke and Whitehead....
