Unless you're the Buffalo Bills, signing former Panthers from the Rivera era is probably a bad idea.

I think the Bills, because of their coaching and management ties here, knew which guys were actually redeemable and which were just great big ratholes to throw money down. They bought wisely while other teams (particularly the Cowboys) chased names.

When disappointing performers are being shopped by teams this time of year, it's a near certainty they're about to get cut. It's just a hail mary effort to get a late round conditional pick from a team that wants to definitely secure that player instead of pursuing them in FA. It almost never works and they almost always end up getting cut. But hey, it's worth a shot. Nothing to lose.
