Get a franchise quarterback or build the offensive line?

Mr. Scot

I love how Scot acts like this line hasn't improved and has some young pieces on it .. Due to Hurney cough cough....

If somebody else had drafted and signed some of these players we would hear a different tone from alot of ppl here...

I've got to say that o-line is the biggest factor. We win each of the games we've lost with better protection for Teddy/more rushing game push.

Atlanta and New Orleans have invested heavily in their o-lines and Tampa is no slouch there either. Brees, Brady and Ryan are all among the top 10 passing yards leaders for NFL Careers... Brees and Brady are #1 and #2 (Ryan is #9). They are well protected and have o-lines that can impose their will on defenses.

In Carolina, we've had eight years of hyper mobile, hard to tackle Cam Newton and our o-line has been neglected as a reflection of this. And that, as we all well know, was a terrible idea when Cam was here. The Matt Kalil deal alone put us back three, four, maybe five years in developing an offensive line. Now we're behind the rest of the division in this area.

We tried to get better on the O-line this year, bringing in Okung on a trade (addition by subtraction of under performing Trai Turner) but before the season began we didn't even know if he would play or retire. Luckily he stayed on, but even if he somehow finishes out the season without going to IR, we have no guarantees he'll be willing to or able to play next season. Moton is solid, Daley is improving at guard, Reed is sadly JAG and Paradis is still someone I don't see as improving.

We can compete with Teddy as QB, but we could win with a better o-line.

So a perfect freaking team huh? That’s hot. Teddy needs everything perfect to win a Super Bowl. Jesus Christ.

To win a super bowl you need a solid defense and a very good offense, even if you get a "franchise" QB.  Cam had a great defense and if we had a better O line we would have won a Superbowl in 2015

If you go back and look at say the last 6 teams that played in the super bowl and look how there olines were assembled.  I think you will see a pattern.

That's nice. But he had poo receivers that year as well. And J-Stew was a good but not great RB. Teddy will need a top 5 defense, damn good receivers which he has, and a good-great O-Line. Yeah, he needs a perfect team? Got it. McCaffrey being the best RB in the league too. HMHDTBN (how much help does Teddy BridgetothenextQB need)?

Let's see, you guys remember a guy named Cam Newton?

Remember what happened to him with lousy Olines?

No, you don't. " If there is a QB, take him, period".  Then we will complain that he is on his back, hurt, etc.

Just do the normal Panther fan thing and just bang the table for whomever runs the fastest 40 at the combine.  That way, you don't have to think too hard.

I didn't say top 5, just solid, you're the one implying he needs a top 5 defense. Cam may not of had the greatest recievers, but he had prime Olsen and Ted Ginn was perfect for shula's offense.  Stewart and Tolbert were good enough considering that cam was the main running back.

It's a common fallacy that if you have a mobile quarterback you can skimp on the offensive line.

Considering where the team is now, if Teddy had a better O line and a solid defense, he could compete for a Superbowl.
