All of you were right about Cam

Just so we're clear, you're very specifically referring to him going through his progressions and reading the field/defenses, yes?

We agree on the physical traits which I think are obvious and most every scout/fan would agree with. I think the disconnect is on the scouting of the progressions/reading the field/defenses. You and I both think he didn't show that ability in college, but where we differ is that you seem to be arguing that in that Oregon offense, you can't properly evaluate that aspect of a QB's game. I disagree with that, I think the type of offense a QB is playing in doesn't make it impossible to evaluate how a QB may do in a more pro-style offense in the NFL. It may contribute to making it more difficult to scout, but I don't think it makes it impossible or to where you could only rely on the interview like you were saying in your first post.

There were plenty of scouts/evaluations pre-draft that thought Herbert did show those abilities at Oregon, and plenty that thought he didn't. I was in the latter group and was just flat out wrong about it (probably, though we'll see how defenses adjust to Herbert over time, the early results look great for him).

I just don't know how you evaluate a QB's ability to go through progressions and deliver in the clutch when the offense he's playing in doesn't provide much opportunity to do it. That's what interviews are for.

Yet people have the audacity to question Cam. Who's on pace for 10+ rushing TD's and 600 rushing yards.

I LOVE Cam, but the deeper into the season we go, the worse his arm looks. He looked about as close to MVP as we've seen in the 2nd half of the Seahawks game, but I fear the whispers about his shoulder being a degenerative condition that can't hold up over the course of the season are likely correct. We ruined him.

On the balls he has bounced, it is good he did, because his target had no separation and the CB would pick off the ball. I've watched each NE game. When he bounces a pass its good he did or the CB picks the trash WR's pocket.

come on bro, you gotta be able to take a joke better than that

In the last two weeks Cam has thrown several ropes. Some called back to penalty. Oh, his classic Cam arm strength is still very present.

Also, the deeper into season we go, the worse his WR's gets .. vs. SEA Edelman was healthy and Edelman had his career high in receiving. Since, Edelman has been hurt. Harry, the other starter, has been out. Harry sucks regardless.

And no team has had a worse showing by their TE's .. Trubisky has several more TD pass than Cam .. in light of that - it must be the weapons because even today, Cam > Trubisky as a passer.

I think our TEs have been pretty awful.

Valid, though even that's not perfect.

One are the reasons Lamar Jackson dropped was because he was reported to have spectacularly bombed his whiteboard work.

That's fine. You're entitled to your opinion, I'm honestly just not sure what you're basing it on. Yes, his receivers suck but he just isn't looking good throwing a football right now.

Dan Pompei has an article in The Athletic where he talked to different front office personnel about which quarterback prospects the Bears might look at next year.

The article only briefly mentions Newton, saying that while one front office guy acknowledged his lack of supporting cast, it's believed he won't be a starting quarterback in the NFL after this season's performance.
