Nobody is saying we expected them to be good. We are following the trend and the obvious.

I see Whitehead being useless, and the same for Tre Boston. Two dip shits that wouldn't be on any other roster...........but the Carolina Panthers.

Oh yeah, basically. You're signaling out one play, I can do that for all year last year and we had Luke. I see what you're doing, and I'm not a huge fan of it.

Douglas said yesterday they knew the play and still couldn't stop it. Sounds like a personnel problem to me.

I saw the first problem: offensive line getting moved/turned off the line to create the running lane. Second problem: 52, Whitehead making a terrible read on a running play that's coming right at him and takes an angle that takes him out of the play. Third: Boston, who's never been known as a tackler, whiffs on making the tackle.

It's Whitehead's job to shift the alignment. Not only did he suck at that, he fuging sucked at taking the right gap.

But they weren't blitzing & were getting gashed anyway!?! What's your point?? Good pressure on a QB helps a bad secondary. Good secondary helps bad D front. Brady had more passing yards than we had total yards. By only rushing 4 & not getting any pressure on him, allowed Brady & the other QBs this season, to take their time & make throws. Geez, a number of times this season, we've only rushed 3, meaning there's 8 in coverage & they still manage to find the open space. Blame is on both personnel & scheme. A good coach designs a scheme to what players he has. A lazy coach says, this is my system & it should work. If you also want to blame personnel, we have 30 new starters this year. That's not the players fault for signing a contract offered to them.

The point of my post is that when we weren't getting pressure on Brady, he just had a field day sitting back & making throws. He missed a few as well which was lucky for us. But when we decided to blitz to force him to throw earlier when he wanted to, our blitz were ineffective, telegraphed. Meaning, they're not practiced enough. Which also shows in our offense, cause they struggle with blitz pick-ups.

It is about vets other than Shaq playing even worse than they did before. Like Boston for example. He had good years for a couple of teams and then comes back here. So suddenly this year he is so bad and playing out of position. Which means we either aren't using him properly as other teams did, or we aren't coaching him well enough to improve. I don't remember any injury causing it. Did he suddenly suck, did he always suck and other teams made him look better than he was or what??

I agree and don't see why it isn't painfully obvious. Even the talking heads are mentioning how basic and ineffective our defense is right now. We don't play the fundamentals well and every player at the NFL level should know what a matchup zone looks like or how to bat down passes while maintaining their gap responsibility if they can't get pressure but do we do it? Who blitzes 3 people and puts 7 of the 8 defenders in a prevent coverage 20 yards deep on a 3rd and 17 play which goes for 20 plus. Tampa for the year is converting 42% of their 3rd downs. Against us it was 62%. It was awful. At least when we got in the red zone and brought more pressure we hurried a few throws. You would think after watching us crumple under pressure on offense that Snow might think he should do the same and even disguise it by lining up 7 guys on the line and bringing different combinations dropping or attacking instead of only having 3 or 4 guys within 5 yards of the line. It just telegraphs the rush attack and makes protections easy to call out. A great scheme should maximize your players abilities so they play better than their individual talent not require great players to compensate for a lack of adjustments and poor play calling.
