Phil Snow's Defense

You will see as the season unfolds that it more than just personnel. Even with rookies you expect to see chemistry and fundamentals improve over the season. You expect veterans to learn the system and perform. That isn't happening. Receivers are running wide open in the secondary. There are constant blown coverages. We keep.playing prevent defense on third and long and getting burned. We haven't caused a punt in 2 weeks. Our third down defense is abysmal.  Between the 20s we play bend until you break defense. I think everyone expected a rough start but it isn't getting any better and that is coaching. The defense is too predictable and too vanilla. It fools no one

I would agree if the Defense wasn't starting 6 Rookies. That is unheard of for a team, and it's happening right now.

We also just played the GOAT QB with 3 All-Pro Receivers, an all pro TE, and two decent RBs at his disposal.

The two best players on our Defense are a second year edge rusher and a rookie S/LB Hybrid.

I'm surprised it took until week 10 for this defense to look that bad.

I agree this was the first game where it looked like we just game up.

These rough games for our rookies will pay dividends in the next couple of seasons.

Not to mention we lost Jackson before halftime. He's been fighting that toe injury all year.

I get the whole youth issue but it isn't the rookies who are always struggling. In fact guys like Brown, Chinn and Yetos are a big reason we don't suck even more. Many of the vets are playing poorly as well and it seems scheme. When you have 3rd and long several times and keep playing 3 man rush prevent defense and they convert every one that is scheme and situational awareness which seems confused to put it nicely.

Aren't the majority of those vets completely awful? Whitehead was poo before he got here, and is poo now. Has Boston gotten better ever? I don't think he was good in San Diego either. So, I dunno man. Just feels like the defense sucks regardless.

This defense is better than last year and we had Luke and Bradberry on that team.  Our roster is almost all rookies and cast off players. At the beginning of the year, everyone one knew it wasnt a good defense.  Now people are acting like it should be a top 10.  We can't play zone and we can't cover man.  We are better at stopping the run than last year.

You can be awful like Whitehead has always been or you can play awful if you are playing in the wrong scheme or have poor coaching. Again not saying personnel is great but Snow has been very underwhelming with his lack of adjustments and same old vanilla losing scheme. We are giving up 27 points a game and over 40 in back to back weeks as teams get film  and demolish this high school scheme.

To be fair, wasn't this supposed to happen? With the personnel, or lack thereof. The fact they shut down Kyler Murray, and somehow weren't ass enough to win games still shocks me. What I saw yesterday was not surprising to me, to blame them scheme when they're trotting 6 Rookies, you and me out there is kind of weird. Don't you need good-solid players for a scheme? I don't think there is but maybe two good players on the starting defense, and a whole bunch of poo.

The scheme is a horrible college scheme and Snow doesn't adjust. Our defense isn't playing like a unit. Period. Those are both on Snow no matter who the personnel is.

We've forced 1 punt in 5 weeks and our numbers are falling each week with more tape. We have what 10 sacks? This isn't rocket science. Theres no need to get rid of snow, just,

Move Snow to Special Assistant to the Head Coach, and get an actual NFL DC to scheme and call the plays. Everybody wins and Rhule gets to keep his "mentor" around. It's a win win for everyone.

We had the most sacks in the NFL last year, and one of the worst defenses. Using sacks as barometer is not good.

You guys are killing me with killing a DC that's working with absolute poo. Don't move him just yet FFS, let him get some actual players on that side of the ball before we skin the cat.
