You were telling people that the only guys criticizing Teddy aren’t actually Panther fans. If you criticize Snow then you aren’t a true Panther fan. Am I doing it right?

No you're not! My reply was to a post about our fan base treating Teddy Bridgewater like he's public enemy no. 1.

And my actual reply was: "It's not the fan base, it's just those that claim to be fans here..." Criticizing is one thing,  but when your are out right disrespecting the player, saying he's this, he's that, then no... that's not being a fan. That's exactly what I'd expect from someone that's not a fan.

At no point did I disrespect Phil Snow or his character. I disagree with his coaching style currently being successful without change.

Fans don't tear down, disrespect and totally attack players on the team they support.

Panthers defense scored two TDs because of Jeremy Chinn but also allowed a crucial 11 points in the final 2 minutes of the 1st half and 2nd half of the game. Has this team managed to stop a team from scoring before halftime at all this season?? Nope.

Give him one more nfl caliber corner and safety and his defense will be top 5. He is working with guys that likely would not make other squads at the moment.

I understand that the talent isn't where we'd like it. But I also believe that there are things that we can tweak to make our defense more effective with the talent we have.

Bingo. I don’t know how many times you need to get scored on playing 3 man prevent, before your prevent yourself from running that defense. If you wanted them to score I get it, but you can’t substitute or change the call. At least you could have kept an addition line backer in, and spied or rushed or something. It is so enraging watching that got damn sorry ass defensive alignment. We suck at it. I think we should deduct 100,000 dollars from Phil Snow’s paycheck every time we call it in.

Snow is keeping eight back because he knows our back seven is lousy at coverage. He figures having more guys back there is a better answer than a heavy pass rush.

Would it make a difference if we rushed four or blitzed more? I wouldn't guarantee that.

Keeping 8 back isn't a horrible idea in theory usually. Snow's zones are absolute trash though and have been seen through since game one.

I never disrespected Teddys character either. I disagree with Teddys quarterbacking style being successful without change. It’s also not disrespectful to say Teddy isn’t it. Or that he isnt a franchise QB. Or that he isnt elite. It’s not disrespectful to point out their flaws when they show them.

But who are you to tell somebody if they are or are not a fan? You can only speak for you. Don’t lump people together with blanket statements.

In the NFL, if you don’t move the QB, pressure the QB, or rush the QB, they will find an open receiver especially if you give them 9 seconds to throw the ball. Unless you are Teddy Bridgewater. You have to rush 4. Sh!t play quarters if you have to, but rush 4. 3 linemen 1 LB, 3 linemen 1CB. It doesn’t matter you can’t just sit back there and let receivers uncover, it is useless.

I didn't say that you personally disrespected TB or his character. If my statement doesn’t apply to you, why are we conversing?

And who are you to protect those that out right disrespects our players. Giving your opinion, say he isn't a franchise QB, we should put Walker in, etc... this are personal critics, valid or otherwise. But they were a lot of other things said that should not be said by fans.

This is my opinion and as you know, everyone has one...including you.

Ron Rivera agrees with you.

That's one of those eternal arguments in the NFL, and football in general to be honest. I've seen it work both ways. The Seahawks won a Super Bowl building the secondary. The Giants won one by building the pass rush.

Truth be told, if you're really good at one and at least good enough in the other, you can probably win.

We're not especially good in either one right now. Personnel wise, we're probably better up front but not to the level that it's making a difference.

What has been said that is so disrespectful that you are upset?

I’m sure you are right, Ron would agree with me. lol. Mr. Scot they scored in less than 1 minute. What is worse, rush 4 and they score on a 80 yard bomb, or rush three and force them to score on 4 plays, and chew up 1 minute?

I guess it doesn’t really matter. I want Phil Snow to succeed, but he has to make some adjustments to his calls. You have to be unpredictable especially in a predicable scenario. If we would have sent a blind side CB bitz on the first 3 down linemen play, it would have been a sack and maybe even a strip sack. However, it would have changed the Vikings play calling because they would not know if we were blitzing or play prevent. We are too vanilla, and too predictable.

    • Easily. To be able to plug in a backup LT without much drop off from your starter? That could mean the difference between playoffs or sitting at home in January. Good/serviceable smart young and healthy LTs that won’t lose you a ball game at reasonable $$ don’t just come along every day. Everyone talks about the most important positions on a football team… backup LT is in the top 10.  Picture next year… the team is scrappy and competitive, 4 and 3 record, second place in the South. Morale is good. devastating run game that Let’s our marginal defense get plenty of rest. We play the Bucs and win, going to 5 and 3, but we lose Ickey to a high ankle sprain. Atl loses that week and are now at 5 and 3 as well. There is no Ickey and no BC because we let him go… and we go in to Atl the next week for a battle of first in the south. Week after that is the Jets…. Now they lose both by 10 and 3, respectively, and fall to 5 and 5 going in to their bye week. Atl is at 7 and 3. Out of typical Panthers desperation, they try to rush Ickey back in to the lineup with a saints game coming up…  Back to good old Panthers football, always playing catchup. Another season at .500 and the fans sadly rejoice in mediocrity, when playoffs were in reach. This team always overestimates its ability to pick up quality o line depth in the draft or FA and it always blows up in their faces. Like Chuba, I see him as being part of the core that Dan is trying to build. Work on his contract now and see if we can come out with something mutually beneficial. I’d consider 3 yrs at $25m to be very fair.
    • it would be great to have "double trouble" again, I even had a T- shirt for Williams and Stewart and the double trouble logo, was a great time to be Panthers fan. We shall see...
    • Sounds like a plan. Those are the teams we should be mimicking! lol
