If you look at stats they are similar.  Problem is last year was the 1st season we got to see him play 3 downs.

TD got those numbers playing next to HOF talent...

Shaq is padded because he plays around trash he is set up to be the one to make the tackle

and stats aren’t everything especially for one season

shaq has had one good season and was paid like he had 4 (Hurney MO) Shaq will have to preform like he did for one season for 5 years to be worth his contract

I’d like to see him at MLB with a solid cast around him...but you don’t really give money like that to those who need a cast

Money should’ve went to bradberry, gonna be a lot harder to find a quality CB than a LB on shaqs level

Honestly, looking at Shaq's contract structure, that deal will likely turn into a two year contract. We can cut bait after next year before his salary cap number jumps up in year three. We just gotta get Hurney out of here before Hurney ties our ankle to an anchor and jumps overboard when he inevitably restructures the deal and converts that salary to guaranteed bonus money.

shaq got paid what he did because he was the only half way decent LB’er on the team at the time. We need to go MLB in the first round next year and then safety then this team could be really good.

Change the title to Jeremy Chinn and you are correct. Been riding that comparison since week 2 or 3. If we are able to have another player close to that level we will be way closer to having a competing d than I thought

 Doubtful but I like the optimizing thought. Would be nice just to have decent Safety play period.

Not every safety that has the ability to play LB is the next TD. The closest we've ever had to TD is Chinn right now. Shaq never was and never will be. He's a mediocre OLB and some people want to move him to MLB where he would be even further exposed. I doubt Franklin will, but would be a nice surprise. TD was at least starting like Chinn is now instead of riding the bench until injuries came along.

There are few who will ever bring to the table what Thomas Davis brought, he was the soul of our team on the defensive side, and one of the most upstanding characters the league has ever known. That said I think Sam is doing all he can to try and make his mark, and I wish him all the success. I know he got beaten a few times this week but it wasn’t lack of effort, simply a few miscues, and on the touchdown he rotated middle instead of covering the corner of the end zone, all coachable stuff so I have hope for him.

Outside of his poor rotation in the....2nd? Hill td he looked good.
