Shaq has been somewhat disappointing, but he may just need someone great around him to shine. He doesn't make others around him great. After all these years, I am comfortable in saying that he's a secondary LB (no pun intended), not the primary guy.

Back to the original idea - even Thomas Davis wasn't TD for a couple of years. There were a lot of people questioning the wisdom of taking him when we did and then questioning why he was being transitioned from safety to LB.

My point is, temper expectations.

I hated shaq when we drafted him and still feel about the same. He doesn't play nearly as athletic as some of his number indicate. He's just a guy... his contract ughhh... personally I would have felt better giving samuel money than Shaq and that says a lot. Shaq is just a jag.

TD was also better than Shaq at this point in their careers. Noticeably. Hell, look at the stats alone.

Shaq is actually a lot closer to what we had in Will Witherspoon. Fast, intuitive, good in coverage and active tackler in the run game.

Agreed that Shaq basically equals Spoon. The big difference between the two being that Spoon was our third best LB who we let walk after his rookie contract because he wasn't good enough to justify the money he would command. Just like Shaq. He was our third best LB until this season. He wasn't a guy we should've signed to one of the top 4-3 OLB contracts in the NFL.

Shaq was our #2 last year, should have been sooner
