TEDDY SUCKS

That "drop" by DJ on the previous drive was a horribly thrown ball to a wide open receivers that the receiver still nearly managed to make a highlight reel catch on. Funny to blame that one on the WR.

If Robby did that, it’d be crickets and everyone would blame Teddy, Brady or the offensive line.

It wasn’t until Smith’ 7th year in the league (6th playing season) that he became this ultra game manager Alex Smith

I think Teddy is on the same career trajectory if given the time (which I’m not sure he will be), but can be better than Smith. We’ll see

In a 21-game span that included all of the 2014 season, Alex's ninth year in the league, none of Smith's TDs were thrown to WRs. Zero TD throws to WRs in 21 games. This was with Reid coaching as well.

I bring that up because I am also one who makes the Alex Smith comparison and it goes to show the limitations that he had even a decade into his career. It also shows what Smith was able to achieve when surrounded by better receiving options in his final years in KC, not so much more TDs overall but making better use of the talent that is there.

I think Teddy is already at that 2015-2017 point relative to Alex and with Carolina's receiving options.

If Moore makes that endzone catch and Slye doesnt miss the field goal, we come away with a W.  You can't miss scoring opportunities against a good defensive team.

if moore doesn't miss that 4th down catch, or the short crossing route, or the endzone.  if big mike wasn't slow, if okung can remember the snap count, and a few really bad calls...   shorthanded we hung with them.  i thought that was pretty impressive.  we have no choice but to play a bend don't bread D because of a lack of talent.  i think we're doing pretty damn well with what we have.  i had to back out of the game thread in the first quarter when the 'its over' posts started 2 minutes into the game.

Teddy has never come close to the level of play Smith achieved in his KC years. Smith had a 4000 yard 26 TD season with only 5 INTs in KC. Five 3000+ yard seasons. Three 20+ TD seasons. Didn't throw more than 8 INTs in any of those 5 seasons.

Meanwhile, Teddy is on pace for 16 TDs and 13 INTs. If I thought Teddy was capable of a 26/5 season I wouldn't be pounding the table for a QB.

To be fair, Smith was in an Andy Reid system for those years.

I like Joe Brady, but any comparisons to Andy Reid at this point in his career are way way waaaay off.

I think the offense overall blew this game.   Oddly the defense played good enough (for the talent we have) to win.

Offensive line was bad (expected against a good Bears defense)

Lack of running game (and some questionable calls to keep pounding up the middle when it wasn't working)

I still think the first pick was a PI, tbh

DJ Moore definitely dropped a TD in the end-zone after the Teddy scramble and throw (great throw by the way)

Teddy missed wide open DJ Moore for a possible TD

Teddy threw INT

Boston DID drop a int as well

Let's just blame the offense here, all around, it was a team loss for them.   Teddy doesn't suck but he's not a franchise QB, but that doesn't mean we can't win with him.    It's worth noting it's one of the best defenses our new AND young OC has ran into in the NFL.    I think if Rivera was still here we lose by 40, as we at least made adjustments this game.

it really looked to me like teddy led moore for a td on that 4th down throw and moore made a terribly awkward turn around the wrong way to make a routine catch seem like a remarkable attempt at a catch.  the ball was lofted.   it just looked like another dj mistake to me, but it is hard to tell on the tv

We should wait until the end of the season before jumping the gun.   Teddy can play out the season, and then it will be clear whether to draft a QB in first round.

Its already clear, it was clear when we signed him. He is playing exactly like I thought he would. Good against bad teams , bad against good teams.

If Teddy didn't misses a wide open Moore and then hit a Bears' defender between the numbers on the very next drive. Moore had a bad drop on a crossing route, but that endzone catch would've been an absolute highlight reel catch. That's a pretty low percentage catch for anyone.

They've played four different OL combos in five games. They're missing 4 or 5 OL right now.

Their oline is still better than ours. Their defense is a top defense, ours is bottom of the league. Their schedule is easier than ours. And Belicheck is the GOAT and that staff is also better than ours.

His receivers aren’t as great...big deal.

I said situation as a whole.

Their D is #9 ours is #11. Not much difference there. Their OL is better than ours when healthy, but I'd take our OL that has had a lot more continuity over the course of the season over their constant shuffle. His receivers are trash while ours are currently one of the better units in the NFL. No arguments on Belichick, but Rhule/Brady has proven to be pretty darn good in a small sample size.

Honestly, our D everyone expected to suck has been outplaying our offense that everyone expected to be pretty good. Deny it if you want, but the QB position is our limiting factor right now.
