I mean, to be fair, and I say this as someone who hates the Saints... they haven't exactly had the best of luck in the playoffs lately.  I think they woulda beat the Pats in 2018.  Eagles game woulda been tough in 2017, but the Saints matched up well.

I agree with you about the luck not being there but since Brees has aged out of having a strong arm his playoff threat has been limited, and that was with a lot of talent around him. Look, it's great for in the regular season but the playoffs are another beast. I would say Brady is the example of the exception and not Brees in winning championships with a less than stellar arm.

Nah Sean Payton's offense with Drew Brees has always been the completion game, methodical offense.

Marques Colston wasn't a burner and neither was Lance Moore his main two targets, Devery Henderson could stretch the field but that wasn't their bread and butter, it was Colston and Moore running through free through your zone defenses and hitting Reggie Bush in the flats and letting him do his thing.

It has but they once had the deep option and that has gone with Bree's arm. They won a SB when he had that option.

And we have a deep option as well and when defenses try to flood the zones and leave their cornerbacks on an island, Teddy has given both Moore and Anderson opportunities to make a play.

His high percentage is because he doesn’t throw the ball deep. He is Checkdown Teddy for a reason.

lol. 8.2 yards per throw (Pat Mahomes 7.6) , 101.9 QBR , 1,460 yards (6th in the league) , 292 YPG (6th) , 73.4% (1st). You gonna have to get outta here with that, he moves the chains and never wastes a down. That's what Joe Brady and Rhule want him to do. Efficiency and take what the defense gives you instead of forcing the ball while also frustrating the defense and controlling the clock. Falcons love to throw it deep and look at them. Get on board with Teddy 2 Gloves or get outta the way.

He’s 28th in the NFL in completed air yards. He dumps off passes and keeps them typically to within five yards of the line of scrimmage. When you have receivers who can run you can do that.

Sounds like what you're saying, is that he is an excellent fit for our offense...which is what ultimately matters.  I don't think this offense would thrive with an uber-aggressive QB launching a bunch of deep balls.  We want a short quick passing game to complement the run game + our receivers' YAC ability.

It's not a deep option if it's on the WRs to make the play after the catch, that would be YAC.

How did we ever go to the Super Bowl with a horrible Qb like Delhomme then, because Steve Smith made a career off of YAC.

Delhomme was a gun slinger. If you don't know the difference between a game manager and a gun slinger then this is obviously a waste of time, and that is without getting into the changes of the rules in the time between those two players.

In the SB, Brees had a total of 143 air yards from the line of scrimmage. 4.5 yards per completion.

Only 2 throws travelled more than 15 yards in the air on 39 passing attempts. He went 1/2 on those throws. His completion went for 19 yards while his incompletion was on a vertical route that travelled 30+ air yards.

Yeah I’m not knocking it. It’s smart for an offense that has him in it.

    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
    • The lack of production is especially surprising given how much effort the team put into coaxing the best from him.  In just six short years he’s had the opportunity to work with 3 different GMs, 7 different head coaches and 10 different starting quarterbacks.  There’s literally no excuse to be made that one of those combos didn’t work.  It might be time to look withIAN.
    • I would say maybe 8 in a tier by themselves and all but 2 where picked in the top of the first allen pat m stroud burrow jackson hurts (maybe) Herbert Stafford
