Panthers Injury Update - Burns in concussion protocol

Don't ever go by what the players say to other people when it comes to concussions. You can feel fine but still have the symptoms.

And even if you are told you don't have symptoms at the time it's not like they can't show up later. Thus the protocol.

I hope to see this new staff take a much more intelligent long-term view in how they handle players returning from injury. I've often felt like the Panthers have rushed players back in the past, even in times when we were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. You gotta be smarter than that and be able to look at the big picture.

Ah come on. Rivera running Cam into the ground is so great!

Yep. And I wasn't just talking about Cam. TD had to have his ACL reconstructed three times. We were playing Beason on an Achilles that we knew was held together with nothing but thoughts and prayers.

I'm sure most of not all teams have stories like these though. Owners are still writing those checks and want to see those guys on the field. Coaches and front office execs are still expected to win and need those guys on the field. Seeing this staff adapt and win without their best player on the field and hearing no talk of them chomping at the bit to get him back out there is very refreshing.

I am also pretty sure that the protocol is set up because symptoms may come and go or set in at unexpected times.  He may be fine but it is to protect a player from their coaches and themselves if they "seem" fine.

As to Burns, my concern about him has been less about his ability to play and more about his ability to stay healthy. He got nicked up more than once last year, including that silliness where he hurt himself punching the ground.

One thing I will say, though: I do get the impression that the staff (and Matt Rhule in particular) care more about the health of the players than the previous staff did. For all his good points, Rivera would have trotted a player out on one leg if he thought he needed it to win.

Ah apologies. I was referring to Burns. Even looking at DJax he’s the one playmaker we have, we need him out there. He’s not making tackles but he gets picks.

Yeah i want d jax to lead my defense in tackling . But because he don’t he sucks lol this narrative is getting so old with d Jax  .  Corners aren’t made to be tackle gods . That’s why you have linebacker and safeties . Ask josh Norman .

Donte Jackson has exited every single game this season due to injury at one point or another...

I also wonder if he feels the heat of competition at CB this year and is trying to stay on the field. DJ isn’t a Rhule/Snow draftee and has been equally as good, as he has been bad.

I wasn’t asking him to lead the team in tackling or be a tackling god. I also never said DJ sucks at all. This is a case of somebody quoting me and still trying to completely change what is written. I’ve been a huge supporter of DJax.
