Just watched all of KK's snaps to see what we will be missing

Yep...

Retooling, rebuilding, tanking whichever way you wanted to approach this offseason under no circumstance was keeping KK a smart move.

People constantly scratch their heads when it comes to the Saints and their ability to work around the cap. A big reason why they’re able to is that they don’t have a bunch of dead money sitting on their books or useless players like KK on their roster. And no, Brees isn’t there... yet!

I was wrong on Teddy and clearly Rhule and Co are far better than we thought (which is great for a change). I still think Lawrence is going to be amazing but I also knew we weren’t going to get him with Teddy (Grier, no doubt) but Short was freaking obvious. Especially coming off a meh year and then a season ending injury.

Sometimes when you post, I understand all of the words, but not what it means when you put them in that order. But it’s okay cause you’re a smart guy and I just assume Linville and Verge and Scot and all those guys understand it.  I get the gist.

Probably.

What was the middle part?

Lol

1T = 1 technique = lines up off the centers shoulder, typically gets a double team from the C and a G

3T = 3 technique = lines up off the guards outside shoulder, typically goes 1 on 1 against the G

1T is usually bigger and considered the run stuffer, 3T is usually the quicker pass rusher type

Snacks Harrison is a 1T and Aaron Donald is a 3T

Where is all KKs supporters saying he’d ball out? Could it be true you just don’t sign one hit wonders? Then extend them when they don’t perform?

And I say one hit wonder not referring to his ‘other year’ he was decent. He wasn’t paid to be decent. He was paid to be great. Like the best. I’m referring to the only year resemble anything close to what he was paid at 80mil 5 years go and becoming the top paid DT one year on his contract and in the top 5 the majority of the other years not taking into account inflation, in which he was surrounded by names like Cox, Buckner and Donald LOL.

He’s been a waste of space except one year. He fell off a cliff without Star and has been completely worthless post injury. I find it painful this is yet another case the fans seem to have called it when the million dollar paid professionals couldn’t.

Why does this happen so much with our team.

Just watched all of KK's snaps against the Falcons. He almost got close to having a couple of QB pressures. But in the run game he was non existent.

Couple of typical plays.

It seems to me at this point Derrick Brown is by far the better player, and anything KK did can be done by any large body in the middle. I am not sure we will see much of a fall off at all.

I can second this. I had a similar impulse and went back to watch the coach’s film of the Raiders game. KK almost always washed himself out of the play against the run, essentially just shooting a gap indiscriminately to the point they were running plays based off it. In the pass rush, he would basically quit when stood up (they started out doubling him and towards the end we’re doing it with one man). By contrast, Kerr stood out well against both the run and pass except for one or two plays.

I also watched the Bucs in which KK was out, and we almost always paired Brown with Kerr, and when going to three man looks, kicked Kerr to “end” along with Obada or Weatherly. Brown and Kerr was by far the most effective pairing (and as an aside, I really hate the 3 down linemen looks when it’s Roy and 78 plus whatever defensive end). As another aside, we ran a goal line defense on 1st and one with our only downlinemen being Brown, Weatherly and Burns, which was obviously an easy run up the middle, yikes.

In all fairness, cutting him this year would have gained us next to nothing.

Designating him post-June 1 next year however and he "only" counts 6.5 million.

To be honest he should never had gotten his current extension.

How do you not know this stuff after being on the huddle. 1T= one technique 3T= three technique. That's where they line up on the Center. A 5 tech is usually a DE just to get most of the common positions out of the way. He's saying Brown is a Nose tackle who's job is to take on two guys. While kk is a up tackle who's job is to shoot though holes in the line and sack or blow up the play.

They both play both techniques throughout the game. They are used interchangebly.

Kerr has played really well so far. Excited to see what he has to come.

Are they actually swapping that much or is it occasional with the majority being at their more natural spots?

I know we do things like at the end of the 1st half where KK slid to the 1T and Obama was in at 3T, but everytime I’ve paid attention to the alignment DB is at 1T and KK is at 3T

KK is washed. He still has some juice as a pass rusher on occasion, but he's basically doing what Gerald McCoy did last year and you going all out on rushing the passer and mailing it in against the run. I'd like to see more of Roy.

He hurting this team.  Sure to be cut this offseason---a post june  2021 cut if you look at the books--my guess. DT just became a major need for next year--
