Kawann Short out for the year with shoulder injury

well, I still think despite fun recent hype we have enjoyed....this season has never been about contending for anything.

I thought the Woodrow kid looked promising last time KK was out.  I'd rather work on the bodies we have in house personally and rep them than bringing in Band-Aids.

This is my feeling as well. Though we better be on the phone with someone for depth.

You were one of the most vocal advocates for us going full tank this year cause you thought we would suck.  Opting for the "I told you so" route with Short is an odd flex...but you do you, bro.

Hey maybe Short staying healthy just "wasn't in the cards"...no biggie!

I sure was but I also said I realized we weren’t doing that. It’s what I said I wanted to do. I’ve already said that the coaches have absolutely impressed me and that the team is playing hard unlike when the team gave up the last two years. I’ve also admitted that Teddy is playing way better than I expected, also helps that the coaching has been impressive.

If you’ve been stalking me so much then you also will realize that I was a huge proponent of cutting Short, even if it was apparent we weren’t tanking. I was 100% correct that Short was a waste of money. How did Paradise and Williams due coming off season ending injuries last year? Simple as that.

I’m amazingly not the GM or coaches so whether or not I felt Lawrence would be worth tanking doesn’t matter. It can still be my opinion on what I would have done. That should be easy to grasp and until Lawrence’s career is over we won’t know if my opinion was right or wrong. Short was my opinion and here we are after week 5 and it was proven correct. Doesn’t seem like an odd route to take. Just an annoyed fan who would have rather seen that $13M get rolled over and spent next year or the year after when we’ll be better contenders.

His cap hit this year is 19.4 million, lol.

We can designate him a post June 1 cut next year and save 27 million on the cap for the next two years, but there will be over 17 million in dead cap over the next 4 years.  I suppose an injury settlement could help that, but a lot if guaranteed money.

yikes

The falcons were running ISO’s on the CB’s and safeties all day, avoiding the interior. Crack Boss, and a few other ISO’s sprinkled in. That requires the CB to make the tackle not the DE or DT. Gurley was trying to get the edge using a hat on a hat.

Like this 35 yard TD right up the middle?

I could be wrong but I think that big guy standing up pushed right of the hole was Short.

We can only save $14.5M. The other $13M we could have saved was this year’s salary. The $11M in dead cap that’s left can spread out over 2021 and 2022. That’s why I wanted to cut him before the year and eaten the $17M in dead cap. Instead we ate $30M in dead and new cap for 6 tackles, no TFLs and no sacks/QB hits. $13M extra and he didn’t even touch a guy behind the LOS. Nice.
