What does that have to do with you calling him a difference maker? He was a waste of money and clearly wasn’t a difference maker. He clearly was at a high risk of re-injury and maybe he was better than a 6th round rookie and an UDFA, but that’s not what you were saying.

i haven't tried to pull numbers to back up my point so maybe my analysis is totally off base, but qualitatively the defensive line looked measurably worse when he was gone, especially in run defense but on passing downs too. he doesn't have to be great to be a difference maker on a young, inexperienced defensive line in the throes of a defensive install early in the season without OTAs or a preseason.

Yep. When KK was in, he saw most of the double teams. Now that is gonna get shifted back to Brown.

We need the other DT's to step up here, otherwise it is going to be pretty dicey inside.

Brown sees a ton of double teams and in almost every single highlight he’s doubled. Igo even posted a highlight of why you can’t not double team him when he wasn’t doubled. Against the Raiders he got pancaked by one G while Brown got doubled. I posted about that because people were ragging on Brown early because he wasn’t beating the double team.

Yep. He hurt his shoulder last year. Over 30 missing most of a season and what do we do? Pay him another $13M for 6 tackles, no TFLs, no sacks and not even a QB hit.

What do all the Short supporters think now? I was pro-release all day long and got a ton of push back. I wanted a full rebuild and that wasn’t in the cards so I’m happy with the results, but this was just wasted money. All the people complaining about CMC’s deal and here’s 1 year of the 3 year $39M easily ending part of CMC’s contract that we just lit on fire for no reason.

@Marty, stop signing and keeping expensive players after season ending injuries.

You were one of the most vocal advocates for us going full tank this year cause you thought we would suck.  Opting for the "I told you so" route with Short is an odd flex...but you do you, bro.

Hey maybe Short staying healthy just "wasn't in the cards"...no biggie!

Gurley was running fine all day. The only time the Falcons led was because he ran in that TD. Please note that that was his first 100 yard game since 2018. We also gave up his highest yardage total in 2019 (Brown’s highest total of the year as well), which ironically was 1 of 2 games Short played. I used those stats as part of the rebuttal to someone who wanted to keep Short this year who actually had the amazingly incorrect statement that we were a top 5 D before we lost Short last year.

When the DL looked different was when Burns and YGM went out and our pressure on Ryan diminished.

The falcons were running ISO’s on the CB’s and safeties all day, avoiding the interior. Crack Boss, and a few other ISO’s sprinkled in. That requires the CB to make the tackle not the DE or DT. Gurley was trying to get the edge using a hat on a hat.
