CMC is the undisputed best player at his position on this football team.

that said, mike davis has given this team reason to split carries. if mike davis is in the backfield and christian mccaffrey is flexing out as a receiver it's not longer automatically a passing read.

thank based christ we don't have shula as an offensive coordinator because joe brady is a guy who's smart enough to capitalize on this.

Shula distributed the ball between McCaffrey and Stewart fairly well with a 198 to 116 rushing split .  It was Norv who showed no desire to mix it up. In 2018 CJ Anderson had 26 carries and was let go. In 2019 Kyle Allen had the second most rushing attempts.

The Turner experience was the only thing that could be wore than a Shula experience.

So we should use probably one of the most dynamic players in the league as a regular player?  smh...

Either the defense focuses their attention on him and it opens things up for everyone else or they spread their attention to others opening things up more for him.

If we focus on feeding him, defenses focus on him more and it makes us less effective and more predictable.

Plus we miss out on other bits of talent we can exploit. Treat him like we should have treated Cam's running game. Use just enough that defenses have to worry and keep an eye on it. It will open things up in other areas of the game.

Turner likes that feature back, see LT....I can't blame the ''keep the best players on the field mentality'', at least not when there is a competent option -- Stewart in CMC's first couple of years, to Anderson, IMO the carries were split early in that season, but he mishandled a pass from Cam that led to an INT, and loss vs ATL and never got out of Rivera's dog house IMO.

That dog house bs limited a lot of talent, Norman was in it for a while too.

Taking out anyone offensive star weapon will make any team less predictable.

That’s what makes them a star weapon, even when predicted, they still make plays.

Less predictable does not equate to better.

I think once we start playing legit defenses people will understand CMCs value. Both the Cardinals and Falcons are very bottom tier defenses.

People always blame Rivera for McCaffrey being overused and for not mixing in the other backs. However with Chud and Shula we always utilized multiple running backs significantly. Whether it be Deangello and Stewart or Stewart and Tolbert or Stewart and CMC.

I think most people overlook just how different the coordinators used players and make blanket statements regarding Rivera.

I just hope that the contract doesn't hinder us in a couple of seasons when we are serious contenders

History repeats itself with this GM. I just personally think it’s bad football business to lock up rbs to big contracts. It may work out. And cmc is a beast no doubt. But there’s a lot of evidence that it doesn’t work in teams favor the majority of the time. He could be an anomaly. His wr skills work in his favor to continue being highly productive. I just would’ve used that cap space in other ways and done a rb by committee.

It's an easy hot take.  We lost our first two games against better than expected opponents.  Now our team is gelling in a way that would happen after preseason.

I think CMC will be just fine.  The team is only going to get better when they can use CMC and Davis on the field at the same time.  There's so much grass the defense can cover, and that works with Brady's vision for his offense.

    • It's really only been 2 games. The NO team was so bad their coach was fired after the game and Chuba and the defense carried the team to the win against NY. He's played better but I'm not willing to crown him QB god yet. I want to see more than 2 games or even the rest of the season. I want a full 3rd season with the occasional clunker because it happens to every QB, even the great ones. I just need more than what we've seen to this point.
    • So you proceed to let me have it since I’m asking for it lmfao by saying we’re not talking about a random if….what in your head doesn’t click If statements are not realistic. If statements allow me to say anything and make it sound logical. “If” statements in this forum allow anyone without real statistical evidence or factual proof say anything will or can happen so speak directly to facts without these goofy azz if statements or accept all “if” statements. And to respond to your nonsense he had weapons he had protection. He had a rookie WR playing his first NFL game with Mingo and DJ as his other primary targets. How have either preformed since being traded let’s go deeper into that he had weapons. His top targets(week one) XL 7 targets DJ 6 targets Mingo 5 targets now the rookie has has about 8-9 games before Bryce’s return and we’ve seen XL develop some since the start of the season. And those other TOP weapons have a combined 3 catches in a combined 9 games since being traded. 5 for DJ 4 for Mingo these are the top targets your refer to as who he should have been shining with. Is it all on Bryce or these WRs being actual liabilities and not good players does that matter to you or should Bryce be able to elevate them? Do you really know football or is this my 12 yr old nephew spewing a childish mindset and asking us to accept it as serious football talk.  I’ve just seen the post from @Icege It’s sad after being shown actual facts you don’t know what you should be eating crow about buddy grow tf up. It’s ok to be wrong it doesn’t make you a bad guy you’re just wrong about Bryce . You said quote “Bryce can’t throw down field” do you still feel that way? You said a lot of nonsense that has now been proven wrong but we need to keep waiting right ok kool. I can agree with that we need more much more good play before we fully commit for next season, but to act like the progression being shown isn’t impressive as sht. We’re seeing Bryce play good while waiting on more consistency to crown em but you gotta get out of that dark place because living in denial is a bad place to reside.
    • Thielen is a free agent, isn't he? And regardless we need a younger version of him anyway. I see XL + Coker as our #1 and #2 with Palmer as the #3 in that scenario.
