Is it time to start thinking trade?

Yep and for basically 60% snaps for both it’s more like we are ignoring them.

THE ONLY reason we should consider trading for a TE right now is if we plan on using this against teams down the road.

If that is the case, though, you would have to assume that Thomas is more than capable of filling that role.

It also could help a team go over the top. In 2015 there was a rumor that the Browns were willing to give up Joe Thomas for a first rounder from us. So, imagine having Joe Thomas vs that Broncos team. Think that would've helped a tad?

that was the one year where it was worth doing a trade and giving away draft capitol. Could have gotten Megatron or Thomas.. kills me

If were 6-2 at the deadline, I would not be oppossed to moving our 1st round pick for someone young with a long contract (Preferably LB) as it would be in the 20s anyway. Anything under that, heck no.

We would have to beat Chicago, win in the superdome, and beat Atlanta again for that too happen, not impossible, but I'm not counting on it.

Hurney trading away future first rounders?

Yeah, I'm gonna have to say no to that idea.

I don't think there is any circumstance in which I would be prepared to give up a draft pick between the first and third rounds. My targeting would be solid, complimentary players with contracts their teams are trying to get out from under, which shouldn't cost us anything greater than a 4th rounder.

You truly think Hurney is running this show? This is Tepper and Rhule, Hurney was the scapegoat for the unpopular decisions.

You think Hurney would have the balls to cut Cam Newton? You know, the guy famous for giving huge contracts to people past their primes?

I actually wrote something on that topic yesterday.

Who's in charge revisited

At least for the moment, Marty is officially in charge, a fact which still makes me nervous even if the behind the scenes reality is something else.

Even if it's not muddy though, I really don't like trading away future first rounders.

And no, I don't believe Marty wanted to part ways with Newton. Per Jourdan Rodrigue when she was still covering the Panthers, both Marty and Ron wanted to extend Newton but Tepper nixed it.

yep, Tepper/Rhule were never part of any of the Cam Newton highs.  Easy to make business decisions when you are are detached from someone like Cam.

Real question will be how they handle their draft picks and players.  Not Richardson/Ron's.
