Dimitroff has a Patriots background. He was their Director of College Scouting for five good years, including the year they beat us in the Super Bowl.

Tepper loves guys who've been part of the Patriots, so who knows?

We thought our situation looked bad...I really don't even know what the Falcons can do going forward.

What pieces do they even have to trade? Ridley is about it, right?  If they get rid of Julio or Ryan, they're going to leave behind dead cap numbers that would make Matt Kalil blush. They're already 20ish million over the cap next season.  They may offense their way to a few wins still, taking them out of the Lawrence/Fields sweepstakes.  Dumpster...fire.

They can do what any team can, hire a good HC and GM and great coordinators.

To be clear, I wouldn't see Dimitroff as a possible GM candidate.

Could he get attention as a personnel/scouting guy though? Maybe.

Heck, Jeff Ireland was a failed GM with an even less successful record than Dimitroff, but he's been helping the Saints hit their drafts out of the park for a few years now.

Throw in the Dimitroff and potential in-house GM candidate Pat Stewart have a shoestring acquaintance. Stewart worked under Dimitroff for a year in New England (his first year there, Dimitroff's last) and who knows?

Why fire the GM? The GM didn't miss an onside kick, blow a 2 score lead vs Chicago...

The Falcons are VERY talented on both sides, seems stupid to fire him when it was clearly Quinn's fault.

Because he took this guy:

Instead of Burns. By the way, the guy I'm talking about is the one who got run over and has to pick himself up off the ground by the guy who made the sack and the statement.

I have always had the same problem with Dimitroff, he always drafts on metrics.  How many tough guys play for the Falcons? I can't think of any.  Gone are the days of John Abraham and some of the dirty O-lineman they had under Reeves and now all they had is a bunch of height weight speed guys.  Alot of them are very talented but Mike Davis was the toughest guy on the field yesterday and that is something the Falcons have needed for years and I have not seen anywhere on that team.  Maybe not the best players but will do whatever that have to to try to win a game.  They needed that in the super bowl and didn't have it they need that now.  That's on the GM.

You can't have a whole team of those guys but you got to have 1 or 2 of them to put their foot in all the "talented players" ass when they need it.
