This team wins the division next year.

I'm still not completely certain we won't win this year's division.

If we have game to game improvements like we've been having, and our division rivals keep having game to game dis-improvements...

And yeah, we could see the loss of two starting QBs in the division next year, potentially three.

The NFCSouth is never boring, eh?

I’ve been thinking that same thing.

I think there is a pretty good chance the Panthers win the NFCS in 2021, something I didn't think they would have a chance of doing until at least 2023, they are way ahead of schedule.

- Bucs bought a on a one year superbowl attempt and still are mediocre.

- Brees last year in New Orleans.

- Atlanta, well, Atlanta is Atlanta

Folks, this is the quickest rebuild in NFL history. From nothing to respectable in a few months.

Good golly miss fuggin molly this feels good.

We went 7-9 in 1995

and 12- 4  and NFC championship game in 1996

A repeat of that would be incredible

Gimme this 1000X, we were a really good team that year. I'm stoked of how good we will be and how bad the other teams in the division will be. I would be ecstatic if we could have a long run of divisional dominance. Just owning the south for the next few years would make me happy, but I would trade that all in if we could get a win in the SB.

If the cap does in fact drop to 175M, we'll have 29M to pay, replace, or upgrade this https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/carolina-panthers/

You really think the cap is going to go DOWN??  I could see it staying the same, as COVID is not a permanent thing.  You really think its going to go down almost 25 million dollars?  That would REALLY screw these teams that are handing out 40 million dollar contracts to QBs.  That would be 23% of your entire cap tied up in one player.

It could.  It's hard to say.  But if it does the Falcons walk into the off-season 25 million over the cap with a god awful team and a new coach and New Orleans, well I don't know how but they will figure out a way to play.  They are 81 million over the cap.  I did not think that was possible.

We are a year ahead of the other three on rebuilding, and in better shape financially.  It is probably why they did a quick rebuild instead of a long one. We are only winning the division with Teddy at the helm, a rookie QB will set us back a year or two

Another 7-9 division win?

Rest of schedule:

at Falcons W (likely)

vs Bears (maybe a toss up)

at Aints (likely)

vs Falcons (likely)

at Chiefs (almost certainly)

vs Bucs (likely, maybe a toss up but I feel good about this one)

vs Lions (likely)

at Vikings (likely)

vs Broncos (likely)

at Packers (almost certainly)

at Washington (likely)

vs Aints (I'll call this a toss up, still not convinced the Aints are as bad as they've started but we're at home)

Our schedule looks a lot easier now than it did before the season if you ask me. Even with all the toss ups going to the opponent, that's 8-9 wins+. We'll see how the rest of the season plays out, but I think .500 or above is very realistic at this point. Things can change quickly of course, especially with a loss on Sunday, but I feel pretty good about our chances to sneak into at least the 3rd wildcard spot, if not the division.

If we somehow end up 10-6 or 9-7, Coach Rhule is going to be a shoe-in for Coach of the Year.

While I tend to agree this is the quickest rebuild in PANTHERS history, I think there are other contenders for that title. There are teams that have had a 10 game win improvement from the previous year and I don't see the Panthers doing that. A 5 game win improvement? Definitely possible!

But remember these stories?

The 2008 Dolphins are pretty insane. 1-15 the year before and then 11-5 the next season, knocking out the Brady-less Patriots from the playoff picture.

The 2013 Chiefs grabbed Andy Reid and Alex Smith and went from 2-14 to 11-5.

That 2016 Cowboys team went 13-3 after a 4-12 season in 2015, the famous year Thomas Davis officially ended Tony Romo's career on Thanksgiving.

The 2008 Falcons are another crazy fast rebuilding story. They were left for dead after Bobby Petrino abandoned them in the middle of the Michael Vick scandal. Bounced back from 4-12 to have a 11-5 season behind a rookie Matt Ryan and Michael Turner.

But you're right, what has surprised us all is the speed in which the rebuild has happened. Many of us, including myself, were expecting a much slower start.

My biggest concern is that it's Igo saying this. He's been the kiss of death since the first time I ever stumbled on this place.

Fox brought us from 1-15 to the Super Bowl in 2 seasons and to 7-9 in 2002 after a 3-0 start. Need to have some perspective when making bold statements.
