I said this at the time when we hadn't decided on Cam and before we brought in Bridgewater.  Cam has never been good anticipating receivers and he struggles throwing guys open and throwing to a spot. His accuracy was very hit or miss and he wouldn't do well in a New Orleans style offense.  It doesn't mean Cam isn't a great quarterback simply that you have to put the system that matches his style versus install any system and expect him to adapt to it out of the gate.

I do tend to agree that Cam's accuracy was a weakpoint. I think an underrated part of accuracy isnt just completion percentage, as I think alot of that can be attributed to offense style, but where the ball is placed. When Cam was here, a lot of times he would complete the pass, but it causes the receiver to have to stop, or jump up to make the catch, where if he lead them better, they would have gained a lot of YAC.

I dont know where we ranked statistically in YAC with Cam, but It feels like this year we are getting huge YAC because of how Teddy is hitting them in stride allowing them to keep running.

Matt Rhule appears to be an extremely articulate man who is very comfortable “in his skin”. This is a solid foundation upon which a strong motivator and teacher has developed. Rather than being off-putting like many head coaches, I suspect others will be drawn to him. That magnetism will serve him well. Active listening will not be a problem when communicating with him.

One thing I liked to hear was his mentality on depth. Seemed very different than Rivera. Rhule comes from college where you're constantly developing a young players and grooming them to play, so there's an expectation to have depth and guys ready to play not only every season but even game to game. Rhule expects the 2nd string to be as prepared as the 1st string and so on. Rivera was a little too loyal to his veterans and seemed to have "favorites" which got young players in the doghouse sometimes.

This is something that caught my attention as well. We literally lost our best player on the team (and arguably the best all around RB in football) and won our first two games without him.

I don't think there is a position on our defense that would be significantly impacted for the short term (1-3 games) if we lost a starter (with the exception of Patrick Chinn). I don't say that to be disrespectful to our personnel.  I just think we have enough depth to ride out the storm until the starter comes back. I'd say the same thing applies to certain offensive positions, but not QB or WR. I can't imagine how our passing game would be affected if we lost Teddy and Robby. Even now we've had some issues on the O-line but we're still chugging along.

I really feel we may be on the verge of building something special here in Carolina with Matt Rhule as head coach. I wouldn't be surprised if we take over the NFC South in the next 2-3 seasons, especially with Brady, Brees, and Ryan getting up there in years.

Most teams that lose their starting QB for the entire season do not make the playoffs. There are VERY few exceptions. Even the Panthers were competitive last season without Cam for awhile. But at a certain point, a backup is a backup for a reason.

Either way, Rhule has quickly built a surprisingly deep roster. And I know it's a cliche, but that "next guy up" mentality seems to be working for Rhule because of his college background. I always felt like Rivera had a bad case of favoritism.

Yep still not Rivera, so "Wooo"

Colored me as shocked that he was able to get this train back on the rails using Baylor/Temple methods during this weird season. If this keeps tending up, he may need a raise and shold get a few coach of the year votes.

I believe Cam thought he was bigger than the team, he is a look at me type player, not saying I dislike Cam, but let's face it Cam was more about himself than being a team. CMC started getting more attention, and Cam views himself the franchise. Also do you remember #1 jersey used to be for the fans. This TEAM doesn't need Superman to save them.

Teddy focus is football

If Cam would've took the time he gave to he's fashion sense to study more, there's no telling how great he could've been.

Not bashing Cam, still the greatest QB in Panthers history, but c'mon he plays for the Patriots. I rather have seen him in a Falcons jersey.

That is the most full of poo take Ive ever heard.

while i agree with you that cam was never the best throwing guys open and his accuracy has been inconsistent, but how many true yac threats did we really have during cam's tenure here??? he had old smitty, then not til cmc, samuel, dj did we have any real dynamic playmakers with the ball in their hands

After listening ro him, I wonder if Cam just wasn't the right fit for this system. I'm leaning that he was not (mainly due to his accuracy, and possibly decision making).

I don’t buy that. I think it was a Tepper move to put his mark on the franchise for better or worse. Cam could be doing exactly what Teddy’s doing right now.

We’ve won two games but it’s possible that its best for Cam to be on another team right now. We could still come crashing down and get exposed. But I do like what I see out of this team.

This team plays with a lot of discipline and cohesiveness that Rivera never showed.

I don't know. Cam was really at his best in RPO schemes, and he wasn't all that accurate with second tier passes, certainly not as accurate as Bridgewater, who is very efficient at play action (and in general).

I think it was a combination of things.  Would he fit the offense?  Would he be healthy?  There were a lot of question marks.
