Chicken or the egg argument - is the system the system and Teddy's a good fit or is the system limited by the QB within it and playing to his strengths?

Again, rational arguments aren't that Teddy isn't/can't be a good quarterback. It's that the seeming deficiency in his game, seeming being the key word because most of us have an open mind to be proven wrong, is an element that is critical to exploiting defenses and ultimately winning Super Bowls. Right now everyone is still coming together and doing it very quickly, so outcomes when Carolina plays a few more quality defenses will continue to tell the story.

Considering that Brady went out specifically to get Bridgewater due to his familiarity with the system, it sounds like more of a symbiotic relationship rather than a parasitic one as folks like to imply when it comes to the systems' debate.

What is the element critical to exploiting defenses that is missing? Is he not delivering the ball accurately while also taking advantage of match ups that are created?

If he becomes a franchise qb I’ll eat crow. He needs to put the ball in the end zone. And I want to see him produce game winning drives in the 4th quarter so hopefully he has that opportunity this season. We need to be totally 100% sure on him to pass up on a blue chip qb prospect. It would be awesome if he can become that. One HUGE thing less to worry about and would be awesome for this franchise. But I have my doubts. And nobody should poo on people having doubts. Also Brady isn’t gonna be here forever. So we need to groom an offensive coordinator who can do what Brady does for Bridgewater to maintain success.

the dude scouting in this video does great work. He’s also very high on trey lance. Compared him to Steve McNair.

I agree. You mention game winning drives, which is obviously a trait of a franchise quarterback. No doubt. People may not consider it a "game winning drive", but I do consider what he did at the end of the last game close to it.

I'm so use to the Ron Rivera years. Almost everytime we had a lead, the offense would almost shutdown. Tons of 3 and outs, and it would be completely on the defense at that point to win the game. I was always asking "why can't we end the game with.the offense?" During the 15-1 year, we would work up a great lead. But then in the 2nd half the offense would stall out and it always seemed like we would eek out the win at the end.

Teddy closed out the game against Arizona. I believe we had a 14 point lead at the end of the 3rd quarter (can't remember exactly). Normally it would be completely up to the defense to stop Arizona from scoring 2 more TD's. But Teddy comes out and puts together about an 8 minute drive at the start of the 4th quarter. Yeah, it wasn't like we were down by 3 and Teddy ends up getting in the end zone for the game winning touchdown. But that drive in the 4th sealed the deal. It was over at that point and we did it with the offense on the field. It was so refreshing to end a game that way. This was pretty much a game winning drive and I hope our coaches keep this attitude. You don't have to start running out the clock at the beginning of the 4th quarter if you have a decent lead. Go for the throat. Obviously Teddy is capable to do this.

Agreed overall, and what's missing for me this far in his tape is the ability to exploit downfield opportunities (like true deep balls 40yds plus) and the whole game-carrying aspect. As I've said before from what I've seen on film he is Alex Smith, a guy who will win regular season games but hasn't shown the ability to elevate those around him against the best competition when the scheme is not as effective or stars are taken away.

Time will tell here and I'm fully on board with seeing what happens. I just don't expect those grits to suddenly appear but hey, if I'm wrong then Carolina is better for it.

Awesome video. I've been impressed with Bridgewater throwing into tight windows all season. That is something I dont recall him doing alot of last year. Also, Brady has been leaps and bounds the best play caller we have had in a long time. Minus a few calls at the beginning, each week he continues to make better calls and almost makes having a punter an afterthought.

Honestly, now that you say this, did we even punt last week?

I'm so happy for Teddy and even happier that this franchise gets to reap the benefits.

He's come a long way from that gruesome injury and watching him juke the hell outta that Cardinals' defender was incredible.

I did notice last week that Brady and Teddy opened up the playbook a bit more and saw a lot more downfield and attacking/aggressive flow. Considering the offseason, Covid and getting acclimated here, I can see Teddy being a top-8 QB this year once it's all said and done.

Once CMC comes back..... look out.

Also, those play designs are absolutely flawless. What a breathe of fresh air after the sh*t we had to endure with Shula, and Norv to an extent.

2018 before the Steelers game, with a crappy defense we looked like a playoff team, and the passing game was clicking. Cam had eerily similar stats completion % etc.

I'm still skeptical about Teddy's future here in the long run, but I definitely think over the past 4 weeks his odds of becoming our franchise guy have increased and I've been pleasantly surprised with him so far. If he keeps it up the odds will become even better for him and that's a great thing for this team.

I think once or twice. Also, I was looking at our punting stats and they're actually pretty highly ranked in the league. We've come a long way from losing our sh(t over the rookie UDFA punter muffing that one kick so bad in training camp

We also will need an eventual successor to Brady at OC that can foster a similar gameplan/ingenuity/innovation that he has. Not saying it's all Brady, but I do think it's a great marriage of player-coach that is showcasing Teddy's skills.

I know DJ said on FNZ that he thinks Brady gets the call this offseason, but I wonder if a franchise would trust him with the keys yet. For sure, by 2022, we will need a new OC. I would assume that Brady takes his sidekick Mangas with him as OC, so he's out.

No I agree that drive was franchise qb esque but there is less pressure to do that kind of a drive then down by 3 or whatever at the end of the 4th. But that was an awesome drive.

i wanna see what he does with immense pressure, game on the line type deal. But people need to be careful on how they evaluate that. I harp on Cam, he was absolutely clutch but a lot of times teammates let him down. We need to be aware of that when evaluating how teddy does in those situations. I hope we get into those pressure situations this year. Bears defense and Nola to an extent will be good measuring sticks overall. But as far as late game heroics I don’t care what team he does it to as long as he shows he can do it.
