Rivera told Haskins to straighten up, play better or he was getting benched!! Not sure why it’s such a surprise!! Plus that whole division is garbage!! So Rivera wants some wins

That division is so winnable, must be sweet to auto qualify for playoffs just by being the least bad.

We've had a couple of years in the NFC South like that. It is conceivable that it ends up that way this season. NFC South is 5-8 against the rest of the NFL currently.

Surely Ron had a very good idea about what he was inheriting in Haskins...as previously stated by others, a guy wo is lazy and entitled.

Assuming that was known (at least internally), why the heck would Ron bring in Kyle over Cam?

What's the explanation there?

It is quite possible who Rivera wanted to bring in was not as much of a factor as who was willing to go there.

There is no guarantee Cam was interested in reuniting with the head coach that helped put his career in jeopardy by not building an offense around him, and essentially running a Buddy Ryan-esque scheme. Especially when the new organization made him the defacto GM.

An organization that has been a QB graveyard for two decades now.

Let's face it: Cams years here with Rivera-led teams were not always mutually beneficial, especially after 2015.

If you were a QB and knew your health was in question around the league, you felt as if you needed to dispel those concerns, you didn't need the money so you could afford to pick and choose, and you were interested in a winning environment, the three places you would probably not consider are the Jets, Browns, and Redskins.  The list is probably longer than that (somewhere in there the Texans name appears).

We will probably also never know when Hoodie contacted Cam and what was said.  There may have been "constructive dialog" long before he was signed.

I think Kyle still has some potential. He came crashing down hard last year but I don’t think his 10 TD an no picks were entirely a fluke either.

Honestly, I don't either. He definitely had ball security issues with the fumbles, but he was also taking a lot of hits and I think taking those hits eventually got in his head. It really doesn't matter how tough you are, get the hell beaten out of you enough out there and sooner or later you're gonna start hearing footsteps and seeing ghosts.

Yup, that's possible

The difference between us last year and Washington this year is that Washington can play some decent defense.  Their run defense is middle of the pack, and their pass defense is a little better.  If they can get even barely adequate play out of the Qb position, they could win the NFC least at 8-8 or 9-7.  Probably what Ron and company are shooting for at this point.

Hmmmm if Haskins is now back to 3rd string.... And Kyle was worth a 5th to Washington.  Float a 6th to WFT for Haskins. Yeah he's thrown off some bad vibes, but still 2.5 years to evaluate him and he's damn young. Even if he was overdrafted by Washington, I can see a guy had clearly more than a 6th in ability even if he was a project.
