When CMC comes back

Part of the problem is that our best player is a RB. Not a QB like you used in your example.

That's where we need to improve.

I like Teddy. I harbor no ill will towards him other than the fact that he's what we were given after they handled the Cam situation so badly. We literally ran Cam into the ground because we were incompetent, and then we threw him away like trash.

Part of the reason we have been unsuccessful in the past is because CMC was forced touches. I don't think anyone could argue it.

His stat sheet looks good, but look at the guys around him in the past compared to this year.

I think you're setting up a narrative for CMC this year that isn't true, or at least certainly isn't true yet. He's missed two games out of  four. We'll have to see what happens then. Otherwise you're just crystal balling this.

And yeah, I purposefully used the QB thing to invoke the history of Cam here. We didn't use Cam up, we used him just like every coach in the game that wanted to win would use him -- all out, all the time.

That’s all cute but both Rhule and Mccaffrey have long expensive contracts, the dumbest thing they could do is what Norv did last season and run Mccaffrey to the point of exhaustion or injury. Then your looking at paying Mccaffrey a huge contract while he’s in the sideline

If you have a guy who could literally break one off for a score each time he touches the ball, you keep him in the game and feed him the ball as much as you can. Especially when you have a season like last year where there just wasn't anything happening other than CMC.

This year, well, it might play out differently once CMC comes back. Not because he isn't the same home run hitter, but because we have competent QBing, a bit better pass protection, better receiving threats (our WR coaching is wayyy better apparently) and some surprisingly good  back up RBs. Even with all of that, you're going to give the ball to CMC more than anyone else. He's just that good.

I look at CMC and I don't see a 12 year RB career where he is dragging himself back out there to  try and tack on another 400 yards to retire the leading running back of all time. He's a smart, healthy, well-spoken, attractive guy and he'll probably play out this contract, get his HoF creds set up, then move into broadcasting. And I think that's what this contract is really about... he went into it with that plan in mind (and it is a smart one) and Carolina did the same. Barring injury, I think you see a team and a player both working to maximize the time and impact on the game with both parties benefiting in the long run.

I like CMC and admit what a special talent he is as much as anyone. But if someone offers me two first round picks and some other player(s) that can help solidify my roster for 3-4 years, the deal is done.

BoB was fired so no one is going to make that trade.

No one was ever going to make that trade

Not if the haul was worth it.

Davis and Bonnafon have held their own when given the opportunity for the Panthers.

No team in this league is gonna offer two first round picks for a RB. Well....now that Bill O'Brien got fired....

No you don’t, in today’s game a great offense doesn’t revolve around one RB no matter how explosive. The best option (especially when paying them a boatload) is to use him smartly specifically when your building towards the future.

Yet somehow he has no affect on wins and loses

Not true, despite the record.  Brady came in leaning hard on our best offensive weapon, hes had to adjust from that and has done so beautifully.  Davis is great, Bonnafon has potential, CMC is a better overall weapon.  Bringing him back in and keep Davis involved as a complimentary back and we can do really nice things.  We are better with CMC on the field.
